I definitely think this album has a few weaker points, but I don’t think it was built to be a masterpiece, or be a pivotal piece in music, just a fun time.
Favorites: Ms. Possessive, Sports Car, No I Am Not In Love
Undeniably shaped a new generation of experimental musicians. This album absolutely changed music and the art of music for a generation and those to come.
Favorites: Off To The Races, National Anthem, Million Dollar Man
So fun! I feel like her sound remains through her clear growth vocally, and I think that she has some great writing on here as well. Idk, just some things I don’t feel she gets enough recognition for.
Favorites: Illegal, Tonight, Stateside
When it comes to small innovations in obscure production and technique, you can always rely on these two.
Favorites: xanny, wish you were gay, goodbye
I have a lot of feelings but I’ll try to make it brief. I think the biggest missing piece for listeners with this album is how cinematic it’s meant to be. This is untraditional of pop, for Camila. I think she did a great job making an avant-garde sound experience that isn’t meant to always be pleasant or fit in. That’s I think a big part of what makes it so beautiful and raw.
Favorites: Chanel No. 5, B.O.A.T, June Gloom
Glad I got to listen to this album, maybe won’t listen again, but still enjoyed it. This record feels like sand, and like a loose, thin, soft, tee shirt on a hot day that you can still feel the wind through
Favorites: Blue Boy, Let Her Go, Let My Baby Stay
So much fun. I feel like you can really tell what a passion project this one is.
Favorites: New York, Money Is Everything, High Fashion
Classic for sure! So many warm moments in this album where it pin points such a transformation in music that is still so present in music today.
Favorites: Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, The Girl Is Mine, Billie Jean
Really enjoyed the atmosphere of this album. If there was one word I would use to explain this album, it would be drunk. It sounds so intoxicated, so woeful.
Favorites: Lilac Wine, Lover, You Should’ve Come Over, & Eternal Life
