in my opinion, THIS album is what set the tone for what beyoncé’s legendary career would look like following it. choosing to release an r&b album during the edm craze was a bold artistic statement and what set her apart from everyone else at the time. this is still her best album vocally to date, i find a new favorite song to obsess over and get carried away to while taking in her powerful deliveries all the time
i mean, this album isn’t bad, and it’s grown on me a lot over the years, but i never wanna listen to it in full all at once. i just pick and choose whatever songs i wanna listen to. i do like how it showcases the two different sides of beyoncé, being able to sing slow, vocally demanding ballads, while also singing upbeat pop songs while incorporating her vocal techniques into them
not a bad album, it has a lot of hits, but i’d say it’s her only album where the album tracks can be dull at times or just songs i dont ever wanna revisit. easily her worst album but the fact her debut album is her worst says just how strong her catalogue really is
