Surprised me so much when it first came out like her career has actual potential. I want her to start producing her own stuff eventually.
Just not the kind of music I'd go back to listen to. I kind of understand the hype but its just not for me and thats ok.
This album came out on my birthday 5 years ago! It's really serene, and I love all of the arrangements. Her voice kind of sounds like Fiona Apples (don't shame me if I'm wrong, lol). Very pretty and sentimental. Held Down, Song for Our Daughter, and Only the Strong are masterful songs.
The first 3-4 tracks carry hard until the stunning Posing for Cars track. Probably my favorite song of the decade.
EDIT 65> 50
Addison just does it better sorry
So shocked it's rated this high. This is hypocritical of me, considering I like Mrs. Rae a little bit, but this sounds like every other mediocre synthpop album. There are still some bangers, tho, and Nessa has a promising future if she finds herself better collaborators in my opinion!
What a landmark album to start the 21st century. I cannot think of an album with such a consistent atmosphere without it becoming repetitive or boring. The vocal performances are unmatched, and the passion oozes out of every song. Bjork is a global treasure.
It was alright. First half way stronger than second half. Don't think she should be making albums this long when she sounds pretty unoriginal, but she's only 21 with mass appeal. She will be crazy successful anyways.
Arguably Mitskis' worst project. Still some really good stuff, but a lot of duds
Def deserves the same praise as their other album. Excellent transitions, innovative and original production, and messaging with an interesting concept (The end, halfway, the beginning). Win after win after win for this duo
