god I love when people steal soundfonts from a video game to make exquisite things like this
Pretty chill. That last song sounded distractingly like the bass line from Behind the Wheel
Far Too Near is a real solid track, but oh my GOD we need to talk about Dulcería. Co-written by Billy Corgan, it oozes of all of the influences you'd expect from Davey and Jade by now -- you can hear the touch of Smashing Pumpkins' style, The Cure's influence is ever-present, even the music video evokes the imagery of early Smiths. They have seriously created a magical piece together, smoothly melding their individual experiences as decades-seasoned artists with that spark of something ... read more
I didn't think I liked this album when I first threw it on, but I found myself listening to 911 and Stupid Love so much that I ended up going back to it with fresh ears and appreciating it. This album helped me get through a particularly rough patch and I’m really glad I gave it another chance.
Had to give this album a full listen after being duped by Sound the Alarm being slightly edited and passed off as a fake leak for The Network (still losing my mind over the fake leak accidentally predicting the return of The Network, but I digress). I'm shocked this band is so far under the radar even though they're considered a rock supergroup? There's a lot of bangers on here!!!!!! They really do at times sound like a pitched-down Green Day, but I'm also delighted by the goth influences that ... read more
The first half of this album was FIRE and I can't wait for the rest to drop. Criminally underrated act.
update: hell yeah the rest of the album slaps too
Me, whenever there's a tempo slowdown: "YESSSS! MOOOORE!!! SLOWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Dangerous and Time To Kill are such bops. These guys were really fun to see live opening for Drab Majesty last year, they had great energy.
Thank you Todd in the Shadows for helping to inform me that early Modern English fucking rips
Surprisingly decent album, but GOD was Wedding in Berlin torture to get through...
me: Kate, are you ok? Do you want a glass of water? Some tea? Maybe you should take a nap...
Kate: [feral donkey screams]
The SU crew blew it out of the water with this one. An electro swing villain song bursting with energy and charm? A collab with Mike Krol to make the new Sadie Killer song? A classic 50s-esque animation intro with three superstar voices? All those dang leitmotifs and reprises???
And thank goodness they added all of aivi and surasshu's wonderful instrumental work, I could listen to their sounds forever.
I hadn't heard this album since I was eight years old and thought, surely it can't be as bad as everyone keeps saying right???
Nah, it's as bad as everyone says.
I was literally laughing out loud at most of these tracks, unable to grasp the sheet absurdity of the choices the band and crew made. After realizing that, yes, all of the songs do indeed sound like they were recorded inside of a trash can, I thought that maybe underneath all that bad production there would be some good salvageable ... read more
