I liked it. This is a welcome change in trajectory for Weezer. I loved the lush strings that really made the track. I'm not totally convinced by the chorus but, you know, still solid. It's good to hear Weezer trying something new and it actually working.
It's fine. There's not much wrong here. Good lyrics and songwriting, but many tracks were twice as long as they should have been and just felt meandering and aimless. The instrumentation was stripped back which is fine but got boring throughout many tracks.
Honestly it's fine I thought it was pretty good but I wish it was 30-40 mins.
Lemon balm is a really good song...
This was my first Sun Kil Moon album I have a feeling this wasn't the best place to start.
I wanted to like it... but it was alternately cringe inducing and boring as fuck. The lyrics and delivery were piss poor, I swear she wasn't even trying to make a good album. It's short but I was begging for it to finish by the end. Sorry it just didn't click with me at all. Cry was a good track though.
One of my favourites, it introduced me to LCD Soundsystem, all round brilliant with a fantastic soaring hook.
Yeah. I can definitely vibe with this a whole lot more than Let Me Love You Like A Woman. This has a far greater impact, the wistful feel of the song and a more rhythmic approach lead the song to feel hypnotic, it really envelops you. I'm enjoying this the more I hear it, score subject to change. I was quite nervous about the forthcoming album after the first single which I enjoyed but wasn't gripped by. I may enjoy it more in the context of the album. I'm really excited now. Perhaps Lana's ... read more
So this was the first Viagra Boys album I listened to... and it was fine. Disappointing but nothing too bad. Throughout the production and mixing was immaculate and on point. The album featured lots of great, eclectic fascinating instrumentation. So why am I not enjoying this? Why don't I care? Well, the songwriting is ropey and inconsistent and is rarely engaging and compelling like I hoped. The album demonstrates poor pacing, starting off with a banger that set my hopes to high, and ending ... read more
I relistened to this masterpiece to remind myself just what a phenomenal talent MF Doom was. He will be forever missed.
First Kid Cudi solo album I've listened to. Great production helps keep the flow of an album stacked with catchy melodic trap bangers. Lots of great tracks especially in the first half. The second half was still good but less consistent. it's got me excited to hear the other 2 albums in the MOTM trilogy. I was surprised I liked it this much.
Fave tracks: first 10 tracks plus The Void, Sept 16 and Lord I Know
Least faves:
This is iconic.
The album cover, the songs, the skits, the samples... all of it.
Returning to this after a long time, I realised that I don't love this anywhere as much as I once did. But god DAMN this was a fun listen!
Kanye's flow, production and personality are irresistible throughout. His soulful touches have aged so gracefully. The lyrical content wasn't as bad as I expected, especially compared with some of the more cringe inducing creepy filthy shit he comes out with later on (if ... read more
Born To Die is an uneven journey with much room for improvement (Ahem, will NFR please step forward) but this is honestly such a unique and enthralling listen. Sure you can question Lana's "authenticity", whatever the fuck that means in modern society, but when you listen to Born To Die, you know exactly who the fuck you're listening to. Her voice and songwriting are both just so distinctive. There are some truly great songs on here (the title track just grips me every time the chorus ... read more
This is definitely an improvement on her previous output. So much great, mature, personal and touching songwriting here. The often stripped back yet lush instrumentation and melodies allow her aesthetic to flourish in a way she could have only hoped for in the past. Such a great listen.
Fave tracks: all apart from my least fave
Least fave: Bartender. Compared to everything else, it just doesn't do much for me but it's still decent
I went into this album wanting to like it for real. I came out of this album wanting to forget all about it. Enough said.
