Sadness is the solo blackgaze project of Damián Antón-Ojeda, who released this short EP in 2021. Since its formation, Sadness has become one of the most prominent names in blackgaze, second only to genre's girants like Alcest or Deafheaven. Traded off much of Music God's consistency for increased sonic variety but unfortunately many of the new ideas don't land. The mixing also needs work, the same for his previous project.
As if they're blatant inauthenticity wasn't bad enough, the songs suck. The song lyrics are just a normie's view of being "weird" is and just makes just reddit tier quirkslop. The vocals suck, especially when they shout, this is partially due to how terrible the mixing is.
I think I need to revaluate my perception of my own susceptibility to change my opinion according to what is the popular or supposedly "correct" take on an album. Originally when I reviewed this album on RYM I was positive and gave it a 4/5 which is far from my what I believe I genuinely feel. I don't hate this album by any means, it's a little above average but it's reputation online affected how I my initial judgement.

loveless is one of the most well-respected albums of all time, especially on the Internet, but it took me a really long time to understand the appeal behind the album. Thankfully now I liked this album a lot more but I think some of its praise comes largely from its influence on shoegaze and notoriety on different websites/forums such as RYM and /mu/.

For some reason music is often associated with Summer and Winter, but Spring is rarely mentioned. Crest would be my pick for an album that best encapsulates a Spring aesthetic. Along with the album being recorded in spring 2020, the upbeat tone of the production mixed with themes of rebirth solidify this as the quintessential Spring album.
