While I appreciate some of the orchestral flourishes, as well as digging some less heard instruments out of the mix to see the light of day, overall none of these songs grab me anywhere near as much as the originals.

It's a fun experiment, it shows off some more of the recording process, as well as what could exist, and I'm glad it exists.

P.S I cannot forgive the drums on new born. They sound like an actual new born smacking the floor with a stick.

P.P.S RIP Feeling Good. This did not ... read more

So in my review of Visions of a Life I said that I always have an issue with Wolf Alice albums... There are some of the best songs I have ever heard... and then something with the pacing throws me or I don't like a specific run of tracks etc etc etc. I went into this feeling positive, I'd liked all the teasers (Even Smile, at least more than Yuk Foo) and I was thinking "Yeah.. maybe I'll at least enjoy every track here and give this like a low 8."

Oh how wrong I was...

If there were to only be one song left after the end of the human race, I'd want it to be this one. It's not my favourite song, it's not even my favourite Bowie song, but it captures the spirit of what it means to be human.

It says we were here, and sometimes, we were pretty darn great.

Flitting between Phoebe-esque whisper pop, Paramore style belters, and taking heavy inspiration from Lorde's art pop arrangements, Rodrigo is at her best in the moments where her own style and individuality shine through.

There's not enough of that here for me return to this, but I hope she'll be around long enough for that to change.

Hey ! I’m making a community list for the end of the world, and I would love for you to contribute.

Prompt:

“The surrounding buildings, in ruins. The last survivors, scrambling to find anything that remains. Fire flickers in the pitch-black, creating just a sliver of radiance. Miraculously, you find an old device that can play music. You can only play one album as the battery is nearly dead. Knowing that you have little time left, what is the one album that you choose to listen to as you watch the world crumble before your eyes?”

The album topic could discuss a disastrous time, its sound could fit the vibe of a post apocalyptic setting, or it could be one of your favorite albums that you would want to experience for the last time.

Please provide the artist, album, and an explanation as to why you chose that specific album.

Thank you for reading <3
