J. Cole - The Fall-Off

I need to be honest here, J cole is my most played artist ever. 4yeo is in my top 3 albums ever. this album is barely scraping by though. Unbelievably disappointing, especially in the second half.

kmoe - K1

front to back having a blast with this album, the consistent genre switching breaks at the end of most of the songs is a fun gimmick and his vocals have really grown on me. love the danceable tracks and the some of the slower ones are super nice as well. defenitley a must listen and highly reccomend to any fan of music.

Quadeca - Vanisher, Horizon Scraper

The third album has hit music, and it is revolutionary. Quad has long been my favorite artist and this album just makes him better. as long as i could talk about the story and lyrics, i think this album is best felt in the flow. the track to track feel is unmatched in recent releases and this year has been no stranger to incredible albums in this space. obviously im only one listen in right now so i cant say 10. but god its close

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
85

king crimson was on the cutting edge of prog rock going into the 70s, paving the way for pretty much every other prog band to see real critical success. their soundscapes and sound selection were second to none and the worlds they built within their albums still hold strong to this day. a few of these songs blend into eachother as the albums runs but when the songs hit, they hit with force and energy.

Bladee & Ecco2k - Crest

Producers on this one killed it, Whitearmor was cooking up the happiest, most joyful tunes ive ever heard and bladee was spitting on them just a bit too much. my only gripe with these tracks is the lack of Ecco2k, i wish they gave him just a bit more runtime because he was so dialed in while writing his verses and hooks on here. specifically "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" and "Yeses" are 2 of my favorite ecco verses of all time and they couldve extended the beat just a few ... read more

Ecco2k - PXE

pretty happy tape here. Ecco weaved together a pretty cohesive story with some super cool and experimental visuals. the little visual novel that follows along with Pxe is super cool and the album cover is one of the best. the start of the tracklist stands far above the second half, the two tracks after jalouse become much harder to enjoy the more i listen. but "In the Flesh" and "Jalouse" both boast unique guitar playing and Ecco's knack for tastefinding and executing ... read more

much more intimate with the vocal performances on this album compared to hypochondriac. the production is still high quality and intricate but just lacks some of the edge that makes me love hypochondriac so much. still fun tracks nonetheless and easy throw on and get lost in type songs. Rosier/Punk2 stands out as the best vocal execution on the album with the frank ocean interpolation and the break that used to be corny is kinda starting to grow on me

공중도둑 [Mid-Air Thief] - 무너지기 [Crumbling]
NR

first listened to this one about a year ago and only took These Chains as a playlist worthy song and on revisit i realize just how impressive this is. I mean this with no exaggeration but Mid-Air Thief might be the best producer currently alive today. across all the albums ive listened to I dont think ive ever had an easier time seeing and understanding such an abstract vision. this is best shown on protector with the jaw dropping break led by sliding vocals and an unimaginable amount of guitar ... read more

jane remover my goat, all bangers from the start of her career to the current day. you can see the increase in mixing quality across the 4 official Leroy releases. the same increases in mixing quality that made census designated feel so clean and high quality. also the album that solidified dariacore as its own lane seperate from digicore/hyperpop. love it so much TYJR

revisiting this review after living with this album for a few months, getting it on vinyl, and seeing her live. Every song on this album has had its time to shine in my rotation, even my least favorite songs on first listen have become favorites of mine. No Sleep has quickly become one of my favorite Jane Remover melodies ever, and the guitar tone on Halloween might be the best on the whole album. As much as i could say about every song on this album I think Sick/Relapse encapsulates this album ... read more

whaaaat, Parker has been working on crazy shit recently. Zig Zag might be their best single yet, working on jane removers video for JR. probably more idk about. but this production is mind boggling. whole new sound for him, pertty much 0 rap influence but RiTchie still keeps the rapping. wild

glaive - i care so much that i dont care at all
75

Everything I said about May It Never Falter still applies here just a bit less. Every single song has a great vision but some execute them better than others. As much as I love this album the first few tracks can be a drag to get through and his vocals can come off less emotional and a bit more corny. But the fact that a stinker like Pardee Urgent Care and 2005 Barbie Doll are on the same album is wild. I’ve Made Worse Mistakes was the song that got me to listen to the rest of his ... read more

Panchiko - D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L

Oh yeah it’s finally time, this album is so tight. Concise track list and great everything, vocals, production, guitar work, styles. Eyes Of Ibad is one of the craziest songs I’ve ever had the pleasure of being cursed by. Found this album through a friend and fell in love. Still too short and their best work by a mile, also just a tad boring at times sorry

Westside Gunn - Still Praying
80

Still praying never fails to make me happy, Gunn is always having fun but this album feels like that to a new level, all the beats are fun and unique, getting borderline experimental at points, the posse cut here is great even though the beat is repetitive as hell, dj drama is always great. Same problems as usual for Gunn, beats can get repetitive and if you’re not in the mood then it’ll suck.

what is your name? - the now now and never

Whole lotta glaze going on around this album and I really do understand it but I have some gripes. As a musician this feels like the most evolved form of bedroom music, this sounds like an mp3 file some guy would send you in a discord music server in the best way possible. It sounds like a passion project and I can imagine the processes each song went through to be developed but in doing so it does lack a bit of the polish that you would get via a more professional artist. I’m not docking ... read more

You'll Never Get to Heaven - Wave Your Moonlight Hat for the Snowfall Train

Where is this album on reviews?? The soundscapes built on this are so foresty in less of a Bon Iver way, much more of an ethereal jungle, the use of percussion here is so well executed and thorough, incredible guitar work. Just repetitive, worth a listen though

Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There

Still haven’t gotten around to this one, super emotional but it’s taken a long time to grow on me. Over that time my music taste has evolved drastically but this band still seems to hit the same. Great staying power and a super captivating sound, also a super captivating group of people here. Love it, RIP Isaac

glaive - May It Never Falter

Glaive has been a recent find for me but has taken over my music taste entirely, almost in the same vain of how Quadeca took over my music taste last year, I’m grasping at straws to not give this album a 10/10, my only gripe is that the run from “60k isk” to “ik” can feel a bit repetitive when you’re listening to the whole album front to back but that’s such a stupid gripe because all the songs are great on their own. For god and country has an ... read more

Geordie Greep - The New Sound

An album I find myself craving a lot, this album found so many itches I never knew I had and scratched them. Was never a black midi guy but always loved jazz and combining the unpredictable nature of Black Midi with Geordies own unique samba feel was a great move.
