Bring Me The Horizon - POST HUMAN: NeX GEn
50

this thing is "only" 55 minutes in runtime but it still manages to feel bloated. i think i also just had mixed feelings about it stemming from being a former listener of sewerslvt's (cynthoni's) work until i came across some stuff around their online persona. not the album's fault, but i can't not think about it when i see that name in the production credits, so i haven't even streamed it once outside its first week of release

twenty one pilots - Trench

something i don't think i see anyone say about this album is how: simple it is sonically. it's not trying to do or be a million things at once and that gives each track the space to drill down into genuinely cool ideas and layered (but not overwhelming) production. it's the most quintessentially "twenty one pilots" album while being kinda antithetical to a lot of what they've done since and prior (i still like their other albums)

twenty one pilots - The Contract

initially figured i liked the different phases of the song more than i liked the song as a whole, but it honestly works pretty well after a couple of re-listens to get used to it. i just hope the songs from the album itself are a bit more focused than the kinda scattershot approach they took to blending ideas/genres here

"unironically read yuno miles the way you're supposed to read yuno reviews, the old fantano series,,,,, y u no miles. i might listen to it because robibluex reviewed it"
On DarkCat's review of twenty one pilots - Drum Show
"i think inherently the words "putting on a drum show" are kinda silly but that makes me personally respect it more tbvh, because they're doing what they want, and not thinking of anyone's reaction but their fans ig. and as for the lyrics overall,,,,,,, they're stronger here than they were on the contract imho, and i feel like the approach here is the counterweight or the other side of the band to what they delivered on clancy. still stuff you can connect with but ultimately music First and above anything else, which was imho the ethos that made trench possible. "jumpsuit cover me" isn't exactly one of their most profound lines. so it's still true to form (ik you framed those as nitpicks instead of like anything major)"

"maybe like taking a perspective pic of yourself that looks like you're biting into the moon, because a full moon maybe looks like an ice cream scoop? which would tie into the rest of the stuff just being stuff that seems a little silly"

"i am not nearly invested enough in this man's music to read anything about him at that kinda level of detail but it's crazy the google doc is actually@real i respect this review just for that (also i did skim it just to be sure it wasn't the bee movie script or something, and i feel like the lyrics you highlighted about dancing at the movies being@dumb,,,,, is that funny enough i think those lines work because they don't make sense. maybe not the best metaphor from him, but the idea is clearly very much just that the feeling is so freeing you won't be able to go back to just sitting back like everyone else. no clue about the moonbeam ice cream and jeans though)"
