there’s not much I can say that hasn’t been said before about this album. to me, and many others, this is Kendrick Lamar’s magnum opus. the layers that Kendrick builds over the course of the record, mixed with the spectacular Jazz/Hip-Hop fusions creates a soundscape that feels tailored directly for his lyrics to shine.
Igor is definitely Tyler, The Creator’s rawest record, emotionally and sonically. I adore the roughness of the mixes, Tyler’s off kilter singing, and the heartbreaking storyline that is expertly woven through the tracklist.
Over the past decade, I believe that Gorillaz have been slowly trying to recapture a spark with each of their records post-plastic beach (not saying that the band hasn’t released ANY good music in this period btw). The Mountain feels like a culmination of these attempts, and to me, it feels like that lightning has been captured again.
With countless cultural influences, The Mountain is full of texture, personality, and joy. each listen I give to this record, I feel like I take something ... read more
Jermaine, my beloved, I knew you’d come through for me.
After dropping the most disappointing mixtape ever with ‘Might Delete Later,’ I was VERY concerned about ‘The Fall-Off’. but, after letting the record marinate for a bit, I can confidently say that, for me, this is one of J. Cole’s most concise and well put together records.
This record feels like a person trying to convince you that what they’re saying is true, but you know for a fact that they’re making everything up on the spot. does that make sense?
there’s an air of inauthenticity that runs through this project that just doesn’t allow me to really sink into any of the songs. don’t get me wrong, every track is excellently produced and sung. but, it feels like there’s a barrier that’s keeping me away from feeling any ... read more
the soundtrack to staring out of a window during a melancholic summer evening. featuring the occasional trumpet.
(so… a great album)
interesting ideas, and i think the horrorcore concept he’s got going on is kinda cool. most of the time it just feels like he’s just rapping to say things just to say ‘em tho. like, outside of some songs following a serial killer, there’s ones that are just nonsensical. not even in the classic Slim Shady way either, just… nonsense lol.
One of Eminem’s strongest ‘post-prime’ records. more hits than misses, but still the songs that miss the mark are pretty bad.
The day is finally upon us! Joji has returned! Christ has risen! Is this everything I’ve asked for??? … maybe?
Joji’s 4th studio album, ‘Piss In The Wind’, can be described best in one word. Confusing. Not to say that the themes or topics covered on this record are very abstract or hard to understand. If anything, the album is quite straightforward with the concepts presented in each song, primarily due to Joji’s “in-your-face” songwriting.

cole’s energy on these freestyles make me even more excited for The Fall Off, especially since these are throwaways. I can’t imagine how good the A-list material is going to be.
decent, but i think it runs for too long. it reminds me a bit of how i felt about the new Tame Impala record and how kinda flat it felt. perhaps it’ll sit better when the rest of the album is released.
another SOLID song from this soundtrack, i guess she’s utilizing her budget wisely and going all out. i respect it. i’m in love with the string passages here, and the off kilter vocal rhythms are interesting as well. reminds me of ‘everything is romantic’. i’m super excited for the full album.
Rocky has finally returned with his long awaited album ‘Don’t Be Dumb’. And……… it’s good. just good. It doesn’t have a very high ceiling when it comes to outstanding songs, but i think the majority of the tracks here are consistently pretty good. funnily enough, the bonus tracks would be major highlights for me if they were on the actual record.
Is this album worth an 8 year wait? probably not. is it still good? yeah, i’d say so. just ... read more
a beautiful pair of tracks. i CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS ALBUM
