Logic - No Pressure
70

after years of disappointment, Logic finally returns with a good album. it’s not a masterpiece, or even that unique, but with the output from Logic throughout the late 2010s being as…… bad as it was. ‘No Pressure’ is a breath of fresh air.

Kid Cudi - KiD CuDi presents SATELLITE FLIGHT: The journey to Mother Moon
55

whenever there are ACTUAL songs, it’s good. but the halfway-songs/halfway-interlude tracks don’t appeal to me as much, i think they weigh down the record quite a bit.

Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.
75

without sounding like an Anthony Fantano dickrider, I believe ‘DAMN.’ lands a little lower than usual for Kendrick’s standards because it shy’s away from the darker aspect, and focuses more on pop/radio appeal for a lot of its tracklist. that doesn’t stop it from being a really good album, though.

Joji - In Tongues
65

many people have nostalgia for this era of Joji’s music, and I understand that. but, I just don’t find myself enjoying this collection of songs as much as I used to.

Pusha T - It's Almost Dry
80

‘It’s Almost Dry’ diversifies the foundation built by ‘DAYTONA’ by bringing in more melodic elements and a dual-production team, between Kanye and Pharrell. both of which carry their weight. But, the real star here is Pusha’s vicious delivery and on-point bars.

Pusha T - DAYTONA
85

not focused on hooks or catchy melodies, ‘DAYTONA’ prioritizes great verses and beats from Pusha and Kanye. an unequivocally great hip-hop record. even though it’s criminally short.

Baby Keem - DIE FOR MY BITCH
65

this record plants many ideas for what Baby Keem’s sound would soon become on ‘The Melodic Blue’, but doesn’t have as many standout moments on its own.

Baby Keem - The Melodic Blue
70

Baby Keem’s most solid record, in my opinion. full of interesting melodies, beats, and verses. if some of the deluxe tracks replaced the weaker songs on the main tracklist, this record could be bumped up to an 80 for sure.

Frank Ocean - channel ORANGE
85

amazing pop music from beginning to end. it’s a bit depressing that it has to compete with ‘Blonde’ and ‘Endless’. but, then again, that just goes to show how amazing Frank’s development as an artist was. and how great of a start he had.

Childish Gambino - Because the Internet
75

although it’s very much a product of its time, and some elements/choices don’t really age that well, ‘Because The Internet’ is still a solid album full of variation and great tunes.

Mark Morrison - Return of the Mack
90

genuinely could be one of the best songs of all time

Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
90

still relevant to this day, ‘Plastic Beach’ is a cautionary tale about pollution and consumerism wrapped in synthesizers and digital instruments. And it does a spectacular job at conveying those themes, while also maintaining the integrity of the music itself.

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
90

‘Random Access Memories’ is filled to the brim with passion, love, and joy for music as an art form. Nothing about this album feels forced, it all flows so well. A perfect send off for Daft Punk.

Elliott Smith - Elliott Smith
90

although it sounds like it was recorded in a tin can and then pulled through a meat grinder, Elliott Smith’s self titled album is raw, emotional, and just heart wrenching.

Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues
90

Probably one of the most beautiful folk records i’ve listened to. Full of luscious harmonies and fantastic instrumentation, ‘Helplessness Blues’ feels like a warm hug in music form.

Kanye West - BULLY
49

5 years after ‘Donda’, Kanye West has finally returned with a new solo project. To say that this album had a… rough production history is an understatement. Thankfully, Kanye did not go “deathcon” on this record. That will be the last time I mention THAT controversy in this review, and honestly, there’s nothing I can add to that conversation that hasn’t already been said.

Focusing on the music itself, the big question is whether it lives up to any ... read more

Kylie Jenner - Let King Tonka Talk
55

up until the kylie jenner verse, i actually thought the song was pretty good. beat was hard, yeat actually had some energy in his voice. but once she came in, its like some kardashian voodoo took over and immediately gave yeat a lobotomy. stop talking bro.

James Blake - Trying Times
80

James Blake brings back the cold and almost lifeless sounding synthesizers, but fills them with so much soul, aided by the luscious production surrounding them. While I enjoyed ‘Playing Robots Into Heaven’, this record feels like a step up in terms of songwriting and overall album structure.

James’ vocals are as beautiful as they have ever been, and the production on all of these songs only makes him shine more.

Harry Styles - Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally.
65

i respect the attempt at making dance music, but personally I don’t think it’s Harry’s strong point. I found myself liking the bedroom/acoustic tracks better, honestly. there are very cool ideas scattered throughout this project, but I don’t think many of them were good enough to make full songs from. especially a couple of songs in the first half.

it’s not the WORST album i’ve heard, but I don’t see myself returning to it as much. it’s just ... read more
