It is absolutely unbelievable to me that an album this powerful is actually a video game soundtrack; especially given that it has a strong focus on vocals. The narrative quality of this album is like no other; and I'd imagine that the experience would be just as impactful if you first heard it in its original context, as opposed to treating it like an independent album; which is what I will be doing for the purposes of this review.

Aphex Twin - Richard D. James Album is easily my personal favourite work of Aphex Twin's that I've heard thus far! The percussion and sound design throughout this album are top notch, and it's far more structured than some earlier stuff from Aphex Twin (not to say that I dislike ambient music [I really like some ambient stuff], but this is where I feel that Aphex Twin is working to his full potential)!
