Avenoir's debut album manages to captivate with it's often times subtle yet lush production, and silky smooth vocals. Mirage is a very pleasant listen, although sometimes maybe a little too safe. The 10 track duration is just right, but i find myself craving just a little more out of some of these songs. Feels like some of these cuts could've been expanded on. Nonetheless, for a debut, choosing to play your cards safe might be the correct play.
On this album The Kid LAROI tries to process his high-profile breakup, imbedding his pen with the grief of separation. Unfortunately, to me, this effort falls short. Considering the topic at hand I was expecting a certain lyrical depth to the project. I decided to give this a relisten a whole year after release. Time flies, huh? Well, this album, to me, has aged pretty well! It's a very consistent tracklist, with little to no misses, and a plethora of noteworthy cuts.
