For a genre that is so difficult to execute well, Neck Deep has succeeded with this album in delivering a layered performance that goes beyond the usual superficiality often associated with the pop punk genre. Although at times repetitive, some singles are definitely worth listening to, with 'December' standing out as a highlight. This album is a sharp improvement over their earlier work
The Scratch (2/2)
On their second album "Mind Yourself," we find more metal influences than on their debut album "Couldn't Give A Rats." Fine outliers in which the foursome show their class are "Trom I," "Trom 2" and "Cheeky Bastard. All in all, a fine album with few weak spots and a good follow-up to their debut.
The Scratch (1/2)
After seeing them open for Dropkick Murphy’s in Amsterdam, I was quite suprised by this combination of classical Irish music and metal. The bass sounded really good live. This is a generally stable album which doesn’t feel repetitive. I liked their debut EP better but this “Couldn’t Give A Rats” is solid as well, however sometimes a bit childish.
