Holds space for reflection when listening. Will 100% revisit in colder months.
Dope ass album cover.
Not the strongest album but some good moments peppered through out, I don't have the urge to listen again but will definitely keep an eye for future releases.
White Stripes boyfriend meets My Bloody Valentine girlfriend for a pretty ok album.
Caribbean, soul, funk, hip-hop, jazz and even some disco all wrapped up in a smooth flowing ride. Using this album to dance into my 30's.
You could have told me this came out in 2015 and I'd believe you.
I'd be tripping over myself getting those skinny jeans on to go see them open up for Motionless In White and Issues. I get the same feeling from this theatric and overzealous production that I do with stadium country. Stadium metalcore? I don't know.
If the punisher logo on my neighbors truck formed a music taste.
Oh yeah. Oh this is the one. The jester stands up and makes a point that leaves the audience speechless.
Welfare Jazz was my introduction and Cave World was almost my jumping off point. But they came back with this beefy, awkward, and thought provoking ride with viagr aboys (self title?)
I guess to put it into worlds this fourth LP felt more personal. The band and producers seemed to cut lose and have fun while making it and it worked incredibly.
This album is like a drunk bard approached me a the local tavern and played me an album that's so goddamn long for no reason. This bard is doing these vocals that sound like someone else is controlling them with a whammy bar .
There are a lot of really cool moments on here though: Gondola and The Question stand out to me mostly.
I get why people dig it. Do your thing cool old dude.
I just don't know man. On paper it's a consistent PUP record but it just feels lackluster. The same topics are touched, the punch is felt in the guitars; but when it's all said and done I'm left with another pop-punk record that left me wanting more.
There's a lot of different elements that are being crammed into this project, which is often only done expremely well or messy as all hell. Surprising me, Jack Antonoff of all people, took the reins and controlled the chaos.
I'll come back to listen a few more times to see if it grows on me more. Very solid and adventurous album.
This LP sets you up for the journey and then delivers some amazing atmospheric rock.
Reviewing every Green Day project:
This was actually the first record I ever bought on vinyl back in middle school. One of my favorite album jumps is actually Nimrod to Warning. Nimrod with its more frustrated and angry tones to Warning, with it's folk rock, and pop elements. The tones and lyrics took a more optimistic approach.
I listen to this with the windows down in my car, still hating cops, but with a reflective-summertime vibe. Not as experimentally creative as Nimrod, but still ... read more
It knows what it is but does nothing to set itself apart from the rest. Snoozy
Elegant, pretty, and well done, but in the end it felt like wallpaper of sound. Not much stuck out to make me want to return.
Following Squeeze I’m left feeling underwhelmed, however what she chose to do, she did well. I loved the grit and rawness we got previously and Blood on the Silver Screen is a bit sterile for me.
