Warning may not be an innovative record per se, but it's tremendously satisfying; it finds the band at a peak of songcraft and performance, doing it all without a trace of self-consciousness.
In this age of conformity it does the heart good to hear some punk rebelliousness, even when the music isn't that great.
"Warning:" is a much different approach for Green Day. Instead of continuing the pop rock sound that albums like "Nimrod" and "Dokie", it goes for an almost folk punk style with the jangly guitars and the harmonicas within tracks like "Warning" and "Deadbeat Holiday", as well as experimenting with completely different sounds out of the blue that pay off greatly like on the song "Misery". You do still get some average Green Day material ... read more

It's almost been a year since my stupid ass decided to create an account in a moment of combined hatred for Tobey Maguire's stupid, punchable face and a love for being a closet critic and Radiohead's In Rainbows. Since ... read more
I'm buggered today so if this review seems a tad sloppy, it's cuz my eyes are beyond heavy right now and my brain doesn't work. Anyway, 'Warning:' is an intriguing record for Green Day, released following the mixed reception to the their ambitious 'nimrod.' which saw the band explore different genres and more instruments, an album I enjoyed but felt was a little messy and lacking in direction at times. 'Warning:' addresses this problem by fully ... read more
I still don’t “love” this record. It feels so boring and uninteresting, uninspired too. They’re trying for a sound that they occasionally pull of on this record, but mostly miss, or just do it so forgettably and forced that I don’t really care for it. People say it’s overhated but I really don’t think it is, it’s just a little bit behind ok. To be fair I haven’t heard this record in full in years but whenever one of these songs come on in my ... read more
Listening to every Green Day album 6/14
Another great Green Day album and another shift in sound.
Warning is Green Days most melodic album I've heard so far by a mile swapping the heavily distorted, driving guitar chords for strumming and prominent acoustic layers. Warning also layed down the foundation that became American idiot with it's sneakily political nature attacking conformity, apathy, and government authority, serving as a "public service announcement" to live ... read more
