Beautiful, transcendent, peaceful, soulful, are just a few words to describe this post- pet sounds masterpiece from the boys.
Truly an underrated masterpiece although short, it’s their funkiest and arguably most fun album since summer days (and summer nights). Carl pretty much carries it with his voice on most of the tracks but this feels more of a “Beach Boys” album as in all of the members being key parts and playing like a band again rather than “Brian Wilson featuring the wrecking crew and the rest of The Beach Boys” like Pet sounds and smile (and smiley smile). Though it wasn’t the last album the band made technically, it’s a near perfect ending for a near perfect band.
The last time the Fab Four sat down together and laid down some tracks. And what a great list they picked to be their last.
Nothin more to say about this thing other than it’s just perfect.
