its fun. with where tyler is at this point in his career, I have no expectations. he can just have fun and do what he wants now. I respect chromokopia but I personally wasn't a fan. Im happy to see him experimenting with a dancey, house album. I loved Tyler so much as a teenager because of his willingness to do new things and always switch it up, so even if this wasn't anything special, I'm happy he did it
the lead vocals are absolutey lovely which makes it a shame this band never really entered the mainstream stage. This album in particular surprised me in how unknown it is despite being a perfect summer rock album
wtf it’s good????
addison could’ve easily gone the route of making generic songs and bloated albums for streams and money. but she chose to take her time, show actual passion and interest in her work, and put out a genuinely solid pop album. People will talk about the industry help she likely got through her existing money and fame, but that exact argument is why i’m actually proud of Addison and this album. She still wanted to put her own stamp on it, and some of these ... read more
Undeniably influential to some of hip hop's biggest modern day artists, and still remains a fun listen today. Not a big fan of the subject matter, but I suppose the cheesiness is part of its appeal (especially considering the instrumentals can also be quite cheesy at times). But the fusion of funk (and even some elements of rock) with hiphop & pop in the early 2000s makes for an album that, even if you don’t love it, is hard not to enjoy.
I actually enjoyed my listen, laying down outside on a breezy afternoon and soaking in the music. I think this album is being overhated, but I'd at least agree that its not up to par with the standard Thom has set in his career. He is trying something new and being himself (and apparently theres an awesome movie paired with it but it seems to be theatre exclusive, which is cringe). It's not exactly a replayable project, at least for me, but it's very interesting for what it is
Short and sweet at always, even the simplest music can be so infectious and sleek when it’s pinkpantheress doing her thing
It's hard to put this one into words. An incredibly heavy listen: depressing & woeful. There is an absolutely beauty to be lost in with the incredible string arrangements and textural percussion. Soft and lulling guitar melodies. The vocals are very raw but I think, paired with the gut-wrenching lyrical content, it fits quite nicely. My first listen was a powerful experience; it's almost scary how emotionally evocative music can be.
A massive improvement from the records preceding it. Poppy folk blooming with warmth, super clean production for the 60s. Pretty hard to listen to this and not feel good
Melancholic and elusive, Beach House knew the sound they wanted from the start. Being their debut, it feels very unpolished and unsure at times, but I think the roughness works in favour of its atmosphere. It's uncanny and empty with glimmers of hope, leaving a unique impression despite its raw nature
on the sea is one of the most beautiful songs ive ever heard. this whole album in its entirety is stunning. i first heard it a few years ago but revisited recently and I was somehow underrating it at an 85
it feels disorganized; throw some sounds at the wall and see what sticks. the pacing is very offputting, I can't really immerse myself into many of these songs without being thrown off. i appreciate the unique style but it doesn't quite resonate for me
i was not expecting to love this album so much. Men I Trust has always passed me by as soft bedroom pop music that narrows just a bit too closely on being boring and stale (not that I've ever disliked their sound, it just doesn't have the energy I'm looking for). This feels like a completely revitalized version of the band. It is still very soft and laid-back, but is musically rich and expressive. Really lovely album
super impressive album. somehow through all the noise and distortion, it exudes personality and has some very pretty melodies underneath. The drops are insane, especially "Experimental Skin" and "Dreamflasher". To play devils advocate, i never want to hear this album ever again LOL - its so loud and I think I got a headache during it..
This is one of those albums where I completely understand both standpoints: someone whos in love with it, and someone who thinks its ... read more
i dont think ill ever understand the appeal of the "screamo" style of vocal delivery. and in the first half of my listen it felt particularly draining. but i stuck with it for the dreamy shoegaze underneath and I'm glad I did. things really clicked for me with "Amythest" and while I still can't consider myself a fan of screamo, I think it was used tastefully on the second half of this record. the riffs are beautiful and deeply emotional, the drumming is ballistic; ... read more
her voice is completely different??? and it’s also her best vocal performance ever??? please do a whole album like this bea thanks love you !
if this album was released by mac himself, it wouldve been his best. i'm not gonna count this as part of his discography. he's been gone for 7 years. but this is a magnificient posthumous album, the production is stellar. if ur a huge mac fan, cherish this because its one of the only times an album has been pushed out so long after an artist has passed away yet remains tasteful and authentic. hopefully the last one tho
this album is so fun.. you never know where its going to go and it always sounds beautiful. some of these songs are just a complete experience and this is an absolute blast
