i love this album. listened to this soooo much my sophomore year of college that a lot of these songs are still on my spotify all time top list.
not as good as transatlanticism, and i do rly dislike i will follow you into the dark, but i love a lot of these songs. the guitar on this project is consistently great. soul meets body is one of their best songs point blank. what sarah said is also really really great. it has stuck with me for years. as usual with death cab, the drums are really cool, and the songwriting somehow explores familiar feelings in a completely unique way.
reptilia is one of the best songs ever written. even if we disregard everything else he's done, julian casablancas should go down as one of the greats for writing those guitar/bass parts alone. i've listened to it a grillion times and it always gets better.
the best beatle and the best solo beatle project. hear me lord on disc 2 changed my life when i was 18.
human after all is up there with their best songs. so many iconic moments on this im not sure why its so hated
ok i know this is on me but someone really shouldve insisted i listen to this earlier. i heard ive seen footage for the first time a few weeks ago and i was in awe. proceeded to listen to nothing else but this album for the next two weeks.
i really vibe with this. the live orchestral arrangements are beautiful, and the dance moments are really fun too. everyones saying it sounds like lcd, but to me this feels more gorillaz if anything. the vocal effects feel like theyre right out of the early 2010s pop-edm radio era, which i LOVE. the mixing on this whole album is phenomenal. a lot of why i love his debut so much is because it feels so authentic and unattention-seeking. this is as far harry has strayed genre-wise since his first ... read more
dont rly like this one, but i think most of it has merit though. little freak and matilda are my two least favorites, so it sucks that theyre right in the middle.
ive always thought this was much better than fine line and harrys house. i could really feel his influences here, and i think it suited him well.
not sure how i never rated this. i loved this album a lot when it came out, and i still think a few of these songs are great. lights up, tbsl, she, and fine line are awesome
shoutout to bella blanchet for playing this in the car so much that i know all the words 8 years later. slaps.
