A$AP Rocky - LONG.LIVE.A$AP (Deluxe)
NR

Quick review of the bonus tracks:
Jodye is a nice track, goes on for a little to long in my opinion but it's solid. Like Ghetto Symphony more, amazing beat, great verses, really strong cut. Angels is decent, nothing to crazy. I Come Apart is a pretty nice song, wouldn't have thought that A$AP and Florence would work so well together but here we are, really nice song. The remix ain't on the CD so I'll just ignore that. Overall some good songs that don't really elevate ... read more

A$AP Rocky - LONG.LIVE.A$AP

LONG.LIVE.A$AP is a album that is filled to the brim with basically everything you could desire. It has amazing production, amazing rapping, straight up bangers, introspective cuts, an awesome feature list... it just does everything really well. The title track sets the tone for the album and does so in style, really cool chorus, production and rapping are top notch, a great opener. Goldie is a tad weaker in my opinion, still a good track, but gets outshined for example by the following PMW, ... read more

billy woods - GOLLIWOG
85

I still know how I just randomly looked on the site when this released and everyone was praising this album, saying it was easily an AOTY contender. I had absolutely no clue who billy woods was and what to expect from him or this album, but I decided to check it out. And wow, this album absolutely stunned me. I was blown away by the unreal production and amazing lyricism showcased on this project, and almost a year later I still am. This is probably the most nerve-wracking and hard-hitting ... read more

Kanye West - Donda
75

I think this is a really tough album to rate for a few reasons. First, it is really long, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I think there are tracks that could've been cut to make Donda sound more cohesive. Then there are the pt 2's, I don't know why they are here, they're unnecessary in my eyes and just worsen the listening experience. Like yes, Jesus Lord is a amazing song, no, I don't need to listen to it two times on the same album but one version has a ... read more

Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
100

One of those albums that you can just give a 100 and no one will question it. It's probably one of the best hip hop projects of all time and incredible from start to finish. Even more incredible is the fact that you could make the argument that it isn't even Kanye's best album, heck, not even in his top 3 and it wouldn't be that bold of a take. Mr. West needs no introduction and we all know the controversies surrounding the man, to put it lightly. While we will have to wait ... read more

Kanye West - The College Dropout
95

One of many Kanye Classics, crazy how this is someone's debut album. First part of one of the best trilogy's in hip hop history, The College Dropout is the start of a legendary career and really established Kanye in the hip hop scene. Such an awesome album, one hit after the next, great storytelling, witty bars, energetic features, groundbreaking production, has everything an exceptional album needs to have. One of those albums that you know is going to be talked about for ... read more

The Weeknd - Dawn FM

I think on paper this is The Weeknd's best album. Abel has a lot of great sounding albums, but this album in particular succeeds in executing the core idea of the project in a way that other albums from him in comparison don't. It isn't my personal favourite album from the Weeknd, but this album is just so great in every aspect that it's most certainly a top three album from him for me. I really love the whole vibe around the album, the imagination of being in this weird ... read more

The Weeknd - After Hours
85

Has to be one of the greatest mainstream albums of this century so far. The Weeknd is unique in his ability to make such high quality music for such an large audience. While his catalog is certainly stacked, I would argue that this is definitely in his top three best projects just because of the idea around After Hours. Abel describes his love live and how he is in an never ending loop of toxic relationships, and executes the concept extremely well during the 56 minutes of run time. Alone Again ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
100

A unique emotional and multi-layered experience that again showcases Kendrick's unmatched ability to create conceptual masterpieces that shapes the rap scene like no one else. I hold this record very close to my heart, since it was the first album from Kendrick and one of my first hip hop albums in general I listened to. It was the album that truly got me into hip hop and I owe a lot to Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, I can't really put it into words. It has strongly inpacted my ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d city

This is generational.

Kendrick nowadays is already considered a legend, he most certainly has one of the best catalogs of all time, one of the most influential rapper of this and last decade and always drops instant classics. It is unbelievable how high quality everything is that he makes. For me, this is the album that started off Kendrick's reign at the top. This album is a conceptual masterpiece. Every single song on here is near or is perfection, but the mindblowing thing is that this ... read more

Madvillain - Madvillainy
95

When it comes to Madvillainy, I always have to remind myself that this was released in 2004. 2004! I wasn't even alive when this dropped, damn it. Like how must have this album sounded to someone living in 2004. So unique, so amazing, so revlutionary. The influence that this album must've had on the rap scene, generational. The whole supervillain concept, MF DOOM, may he rest in peace, with unmatched, unique and witty raps and Madlib producing one timeless beat after the next. There ... read more

Freddie Gibbs - Alfredo 2
90

When you have a follow-up to a album that was already great, most succesors fail to reach the level of the first, let alone surpass it. Alfredo 2 might have achieved such a feat. It isn't surprising that this project is great, Freddie and The Alchemist have been staples of the rap game for quite some time and have been consistently delivering great stuff like on their joint effort Alfredo, the albums predecessor. But I still wasn't expecting it to be this good. Alfredo 2 is a album ... read more

Freddie Gibbs - $oul $old $eparately
80

Freddie is most known for his collaborative efforts, especially with Madlib and The Alchemist, and while I don't think this album completely reaches the level of said collaborations, it is still a great effort from Freddie and is overlooked to quickly in my eyes. Freddie is a little more mainstream on this one, as the feature list already shows, but still creates a very enjoyable project with some amazing standout tracks and a varied beat selection. I also appreciate the whole " $$$ ... read more

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Piñata
90

This is incredible. You could take almost every song and put it on another album and it would most likely be the best song on that album. Madlib is a unmatched producer and Freddie is on another level on this album. Just take a look at the first songs, Scarface, Deeper (standout!) and High alone make for a crazy three track run, with groovy beats, great rapping and a dope verse from Danny Brown too. Harold's is another great cut, not my favourite off this album but that's just because ... read more

Lupe Fiasco - Samurai
90

There are very few who can match Lupe's lyricism and flow, he's probably one of the best lyrical rappers to exist, and this project just proves exactly that. Who else could've made an album imagining Amy Winehouse becoming a battle rapper, how do you even have this concept and then execute it perfectly? Every song simply slaps, the title track has beautiful production and is really catchy and Mumble Rap just burns itself into your head, "I got what you got and these are the ... read more

Denzel Curry - TA13OO
90

"Welcome to the darker side of taboo" - How could you have started the album better? It's peak!

I consider myself to be a quite regular Denzel Curry enjoyer, so it is kind of a necessity to share my opinion on his projects, starting off with his third studio album, TA13OO (btw really like the stylisation of the track names!). I think the first track already is a amazing song, because it does everything right for a great intro track. The long build-up to the melodic beat to the ... read more

Burial - Untrue
90

Well I suppose this is the first album I review here, probably because it's the first album in my small CD collection. Seriously, like where to you even start when you create an account on a website like this? I can't immediatly write a review to every album I've ever listened to, even though I'd like to...

Guess I gotta start from somewhere :)

I would lie if I'd say I know a lot about Burial, which is a shame considering how much I enjoy this album. I can't even ... read more
