It's fine, definitely something new but there are only a few standouts on this album. I liked the themes but the songwriting is ok. The production rocks though
Even after almost a decade later, SZA's "Ctrl" is still one of the, if not the best, albums to come from the 2000's century so far. The album highlights topics such as reclaiming autonomy, insecurity (specifically body image), toxic relationships, and the search for control that is still very prevalent since its release. SZA's meaningful songwriting and the relaxed production created by masterminds like ThankGod4Cody and Scum make "Ctrl" a true masterpiece, ... read more
I have been getting into Yeat for the last year, and I was really excited for this album. However, I was kind of let down.
ADL has songs that make me feel like "yeah this is really amazing" and "my god this sounds like the last song". And honestly, the second option happened more. It's just mid and there were very few standout tracks from an album that is already bloated.
Get RAYE onto a movie soundtrack immediately.
This album is so well written and produced that it honestly blew my mind. Her storytelling is so masterful, and it felt like I was listening to an experience more than a music album. What really kinda blows me is that most of these songs has little replay value because I would really love to add a few songs from this onto my playlist because of how blown away I am. I truly did love this album and it blew my expectations out of the water
I feel like with all of the talent Charlie Puth has, he could make an absolutely generational album, but somehow he always sticks with boring, repetitive music. This album is honestly better than his previous album because it sounds kinda decent but I feel like he should really use that musical professor (tiktok ball knowledge) brain to actually make a mad album
Madison Beer deviates from the "dark pop/EDM" sound to chase after an angelic-like, softer sound for "locket". As much as these songs were decent, they were highly repetitive and I got bored fairly easily. However, if she continued to go down the "make you mine/15 MINUTES" path, the album would have been one of my favorites of the year (so far).
Don Toliver gives us a new album of amazing songs and bangers. However, he doesn't deviate from his signature sound and the sound is just what he has been doing since Love Sick. However, he does have some great music on here which I will give kudos for.
Something I didn't realize from a TikTok influencer that I used to hate is that somehow she can release half decent music if she really put in the effort. I really hope she improves, as Addison Rae might release a better album in the future. That was a sentence I never really thought I would ever say by the way
Deluxe songs that are basically (almost) better than every song on the standard album.
(this rating includes the songs on the standard track - otherwise it would be 88 for just two songs)
This just sounds like... A Bruno Mars album. This is basically the same shit he has been releasing over the course of his musical career. Its not bad, just needs something new. And more variety between songs.
This is one of his best albums. Smooth vocals and smooth production, and everything meshes well together. Honestly, a masterpiece. I quite enjoyed this listen!
I love this concept, and the album was fire. It does feel a little bloated, but I'm not complaining.
I love Ava Max. I still do, but she really needs to refresh her sound. I wish she could go back to her Diamonds and Dancefloors sound again, or at least try something more refreshing.
shallow songwriting, short "ep" despite edging fans for four years, having all members release solo projects LONGER than this "group ep", AND working with dr. luke? on TWO song? yeah, no wonder why this album is so ass. but blinks will eat it up i guess. also go is honestly decent but thats cuz of chris martin
