Gracie Abrams - The Secret of Us

You know those shovelware games clogging up steam, and console e-shops? If shovelware was an album, this is it.

This album feels like the pinnacle of the new wave of white girl music that has been going on in the few years. It feels so commercial, and it feels like any traces of soul in this track is completely fabricated and faked. It all just feels so fake. The vocals are weak, the instrumentals are bland, and it feels like Gracie has had no original ideas for this album. It just feels like ... read more

MARINA - BUTTERFLY

This sounds like a Love + Fear outtake... And that's not a good thing.

Ughhh i am so disappointed in this track. Ancient Dreams was actually a step in the right direction in my opinion. It wasn't on the level of Family Jewels, Electra Heart or Froot, sure. But it was LEAGUES better than L+F at least. I feel like Marina's style of writing has become so corny in recent years, and it sucks to see because i know she's capable of so much better. I feel like she needs to get more ... read more

Lady Gaga - MAYHEM

I haven't listened to a Lady Gaga project in it's entirety for a long time, and i've only done so with her first three studio albums before. I wasn't planning to listen to this, but 10 minutes before it released i realized that it was, in fact, releasing tonight. So i thought why not tune in?

I haven't really been sold on any of the albums Gaga has released since Artpop. Joanne isn't my cup of tea, and Chromatica has a lot of skips in my opinion, even though it ... read more

Ethel Cain - Perverts

This is one of the most distinct bodies of work i’ve listened to in a while. Ambient music is usually not my first choice, since it tends to be long and drawn out. I listen to ambient music in the background sometimes though. When i play a game, study, or sometimes when i go to sleep. This album sits in a weird place because it’s too ambient to listen to casually but a bit too ’creepy’ to listen to while studying or trying to sleep. Although i will definetly listen to ... read more

Taylor Swift - Midnights

In wake of The Tortured Poets Department, i think it's time for me to revisit and review Midnights.

Midnights is an album i believe is severely overhated. It's definetly not Taylor's best and has a lot of moments that are boring or unoriginal, but unlike Tortured Poets, none of these songs are outright bad imo.

This might be a controversial take, but right behind 1989, this is Taylor's best pop record. It nails the sound that it's meant to nail. The kind of old-school synth pop sound is ... read more

Chappell Roan - Good Luck, Babe!

Probably the best Pop Song released this year… I never really cared for Chappell Roan until i heard this song in passing and i was immediatly hooked. The song is catchy, the lyrics are amazing and vivid, and the production feels quite nostalgix and fresh at the same time. It’s just a really good pop song. I think Chappell Roan has a good chance of becoming a really big artist if she keeps this up.

I’ve listened to her songs "Casual" and "HOT TO GO!" from ... read more

Taylor Swift - THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY

[ONLY REVIEWING THE B SIDE ALBUM]

Someone should have told her to switch the albums, and have this one be the one that was widely released, and have the Original Album be the B-Side album. This album is actually a solid body of work. It's still not on the level of Taylor's other albums, but this version actually has a sizable amount of good songs on it.

I actually hearted 6 SONGS from this B-Side project, and i only hearted two from the standard version. Anyway, fuck the standard edition. Who ... read more

Taylor Swift - THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT

My expectations for this album were very low... But i'm still dissappointed that this album is so mediocre. The first issue with this album came up the moment it was announced - Nobody asked for it. Taylor is touring, she's in the middle of the biggest tour of all time, she's rerecording her stolen albums, and Midnights is still very much a recent thing. I feel like the only reason she released this album to begin with was to defy people's expectations. To me, this album is a compilation about ... read more

Lorde - Take Me to the River

This is a GREAT cover. a great song overall. LORDE WE WANT ANOTHER ALBUM.
it kinda sounds like if solar power and melodrama had a baby

my only small complaint is that the quality randomly changes at some parts?? i know its intentional but still

Beyoncé - COWBOY CARTER
78

Just finished my first listen, and I'm pleasantly surprised!

I knew when I listened to the first two singles that she didn't make the best choice in lead singles, and my intuition was right. 16 CARRIAGES and TEXAS HOLD EM are probably on the lower end of my ranking of these tracks. This album is what I would call an "organized mess". There are SO many different kinds of sounds and genre blends on this album, but it's tied together pretty well I'd say.

Something that RENAISSANCE ... read more

Addison Rae - AR

So, recently i’ve kind of doven into the rabbit hole of "music from social media influencers". Most of the music i’ve listened to is completele and utter garbage, but this EP was actually a fun listen.

I never expected Addison Rae of all people to put out a decent pop project, and while there’s nothing groundbreaking on here, and i don’t see myself coming back to the EP in it’s entirety again, "2 die 4" and "I got it bad" are ... read more

Julie Ragbeer - New Beginnings

Okay so don't ask me why i listened to two Julie Ragbeer projects today. I JUST DID, OKAY??

Let's start with that cover art.... Julie baby what were you THINKING???!?!?!? Not even a mirror selfie? Regular selfie from a normal angle in a normal environment? a CAR SELFIE??!?!? WITH THE SEATBELT ON!!!? oh no girl...

This EP sounds like it was made in an hour, at most. I don't know why she made this. She should've used the time she spent to make this album to go to a vocal coach or find someone ... read more

Julie Ragbeer - Perplex

Idk girl....... i see the vision. get her a studio and a record deal and something good might come out of it

Okay, okay. I'm gonna attempt to write a serious review here. The album's production and songwriting is rough and unpolished. It sounds like it was produced on GarageBand on her IPad, and recorded on apple headphones in a closet. So yeah, it's not very good. It's very bad. It's barely listenable, mostly. But there is potential here, Julie is not talentless. If she gets the resources she ... read more

ABBA - The Visitors

"The Visitors" has always been an ABBA record that i hold a special appreciation for. I'm not really sure why, but i've gravitated towards it more than any other ABBA record out there, even if this album lacks any instant classics, like Dancing Queen or Voulez Vouz.

But it is SUCH an amazing and compelling body of work, and i really think it shows of the truly best qualities of ABBA. The cover art is cool, the tracklist is short, consise and effective. I truly don't think this album ... read more

Olivia Rodrigo - obsessed

I was actually kind of hopeful when i was about to listen to this because of how much everyone has talked it up... And don't get me wrong, it's definetly an okay pop rock song. It's mediocre and the writing is on the nose but whatever, its okay for what it is.

This sounds.... EXACTLY like all other pop rock songs on Guts. Hell, it sounds like the other pop rock singles that Olivia have ALREADY PUT OUT FROM THE ALBUM. If you played this song, Bad Idea Right, Get Him Back and Ballad of a ... read more

Julien Baker - Little Oblivions

This album is a really good indie-rock record, and the raw emotional vulnerability present throughout this record strengthens it immensely. I'm not a huge fan of Julien's solo work, I only listen to a handful of songs from her other projects, for some reason they never really resonated with me as complete bodies of work, but this album does.

I love the aesthetics of this album, and the album art is gorgeous. I have this album on vinyl and the details on the booklet and sleeves are nice ... read more

2024 is a terrible year for female rap so far. Cardi is embarrassing herself yet again.

Beyoncé - 16 CARRIAGES

its better than TEXAS HOLD EM but i'd still rather listen to Daddy Lessons

Its good, but Beyoncé has done country better in the best, and she did country better with 16 CARRIAGES, although i don't think that song is as commercially viable as this song. I'll probably find a better fitting lead single once we actually get the full Act 2 album.

Anyways, i'd rather listen to Daddy Lessons
