Hi-C in my opinion is one of the goats of the underground. His energy is unmatched by anyone, and he can make the dumbest bars ever sound super hype to a point where I dont even notice. And for the most part, he's able to make whatever sound he uses into a great album with a lot of memorable moments. And L3Ft 4 d3ad has some all time great Hi-C songs. The tracklist isnt perfect, but there are many gems to find here.
A legitimately heartfelt album that is becoming increasingly hard to find in super mainstream artists. Its filled with genuinely great writing and performances that make her the highlight of this album by far, instead of hiding behind the production. Not to say that the production is bad though, it highlights her. My favorite song is THE GREATEST. Billie's singing and writing peaks here imo. And the climax hits hard. Overall, she's going in a great direction right now.
The tracklist is inconsistent to me, but I recommend this to anyone who likes this kind of stuff because the hits are amazing. Legitimately inspiring stuff can be heard here. Some of the vocals remind me of slayr in a good way because the melodic songs hit really hard, and there are surprisingly good and even deep lyrics on display here. This does go for a lot of different sounds, which makes this messy at times, but there's so much good to be heard here.
Personally speaking, Im not nearly as into this as some other people are, but its definitely a really fun dance album that makes for some really easy listening. I like how the sound never stays in one place on here as well. Newjack is kinda glitchy and all over the place, and that song came right after D.A.N.C.E, which sound absolutely nothing alike.
