Laufey - A Matter of Time: The Final Hour
95

This new collection of music was surprising to me, especially due to how well structured the album already is with the cinematic climactic ending of "Sabotage", so I truly did believe she couldn't build any more onto the album.
but I was proven horribly wrong. Let's go song by song
Madwoman: 9.5/10 incredible experimentation with bossa nova and jazz with her chamber pop pieces mixing together. I enjoyed dancing to this very much.

Joji - Piss In The Wind

hehehe 6 7
ANYWAYS. There was far too much filler in this album. Not really, given the 3-year wait from his last album, "SMITHEREEENS". The highlights are HIGH (just like almost every Joji album), and the filler is WAY below the quality of the highlights. Every song was too simple or underbaked to really be considered a song. For example, "Last of a Dying Breed" had the craziest potential ever to be a second version of Gimme Love, and honestly, I wouldn't have minded. ... read more

Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There

Ok I've relistened to this album a decent amount and now I can say for sure this shit is an absolute masterpiece. One of the greatest albums I've listened to, sound, chaotic, charming, heart WRENCHING. Watching the live recordings of these songs changed my whole perspective of this album. It's a pure work of art.

Nujabes - Luv(sic) Hexalogy

This is an absolute masterpiece of a compilation. Honestly, one of the greatest, if not the greatest, of all time, every track's production is absolutely brilliant. I wish Nujabes were still around to see how much his music is adored. This has gotta be one of the best albums I've listened to in a hot minute. I rated this a while ago, but still haven't reviewed it.

Black Country, New Road - Forever Howlong

Black Country, New Road pushes through with another brilliant album even after the loss of their lead singer, and yet have taken that and made it an advantage for a brilliant creative direction. I didn't enjoy this album as much as I did AFOT, but this was still a GREAT album.

Oh my GOD.
I've been holding off listening to this album, but OH MY GOD. IT'S ACTUALLY GOOD.
I didn't expect this. People have been telling me Lorde has been good for ages, but I never believed them until right this moment. I really should've listened to their suggestions.

WHITE BOY IS BACKKKKK
WITH A BANGER TOO.
Though DECIDE was much better structured than The Crux (personal preference), I really enjoy the creative direction Joe decided to go with in this album. Probably the best actor turned musician out there and for good reason. There are nearly NO misses on this album and the tracks are absolutely the BOMB.
I'm very excited for whatever he makes in the near future.

Racing Mount Pleasant - Racing Mount Pleasant

I was first introduced to this album by one of my friends, who first introduced me to the track "Emily." An absolutely BRILLIANT track by the way, and got me immediately hooked, making me want to listen to the whole album.
Now, alongside that, he also introduced me to AFUT (The Ants From Up There), and after listening to that first, I realized how similar the 2 records were. It was very obvious that many stylistic choices were made in inspiration for The Ants From Up There, especially ... read more

This was a strange experience. My rating will probably change soon because you definitely need to be in the mood to listen to this. Overall a great piece of work.

Kendrick Lamar - GNX

I'm sorry this is really unpopular but bro this album is NOT allat. It has a few bangers and I feel like the 2nd half kinda drags and it's definitely worth listening through. My biggest problem with this album is how almost none of the songs stayed with me. There's only a couple songs that to me are still somewhat worth revisiting. All in all it's an okay album but definitely not something worth consistently revisiting.

This was too brilliant of an album to exist. Zero misses.
This album single handedly transformed me into a Phoebe bridgers fan because her work is genuinely phenomenal. She sure is one of the greatest artists I've come across and I want to cry everytime I listen through this album like bye?
Also I know it's generic but Savior Complex is a fucking masterpiece.

I will not fucking lie.
Unlike most other YouTuber-turned-artists, Jschlatt ACTUALLY put a lot of effort into the production of his music. I really respect this dude for actually doing all that.
Decent album for a youtuber

Mitski - Bury Me at Makeout Creek

Oh god, this is very depressing.
I listened to this on my long midnight walk home (hehe Drunk Walk Home), and honestly, it is a pretty brilliant album. I'd say there are a lot of moments it falters, but it doesn't exactly lose my attention for most of the time. Personally, I think the 2nd half of the album is MUCH better than the first half. But that's mainly personal preference.

Lord Huron - Strange Trails

Recommended to me by my friend.
This was a bit of a letdown compared to what I expected, perhaps because it somewhat relies on motifs to carry me through the album.
A lot of the songs felt like filler for the theme and story.
Perhaps I entered with too many expectations.
Overall, though, if you read the lyrics, it is a pretty brilliant album, and the ending track makes the pacing of the album worthwhile.
I'll be relistening a couple times to let it sink in. Would recommend though!

Just finished this and honestly Ichiko Aoba's old music appeals more to me than her newer albums, but overall brilliant,
This is my favorite album by her, personally, as it flows well as an overall piece.

I've been holding off a review for this album.
This album found me at one of the hardest times of my life and it became my anchor. It helped me through some of my toughest moments and I can only feel bittersweet going back and listening to this. I highly recommend this album, even if it's cliche, it's popular for a good reason.
