This is part one of my 100 follower extravaganza, and I would like to get the thanking out of the way so I can get to the review. Thanks to @captainfreakoff for starting my journey, and @AnthonyBourdno for kick-starting me into some sort of "relevancy".
Now to get the elephant out of the way. This album is the first after the tragic death of Cliff Burton and is lacking audible bass. Jason Newsted was shafted because of this and while I do not agree with the way he was treated, I do ... read more
There is not a lot I can say about this album besides the fact that a parody of the death metal genre and somehow managed to make some of the genres best songs. Firstly I would like to talk about how absurd the lyrics are for songs such as Murmaider and Bloodrocuted. Death metal as seen as unnecessarily violent and over the top, and the songs really wear that on its sleave, which is very appreciated. Secondly I would like to talk about how much this album kicks ass despite being goofy. The ... read more
This album is one of the best thrash albums but it is held back for me because of one big and one little issue . My big issue is that the vocals are awesome, but are held back by the awful sound quality of some of Hetfields screams. The little issue is the whole Mustaine debacle, as he did contribute this album with some of my favorite Metallica riffs coming off of this album. I'm not going into the whole Mustaine feud, but , I feel that it should be mentioned that Mustaine did a good ... read more
This made the already mediocre movie even worse for me, as it was everywhere when it was released. This song has no substance other than marketing material, and even as that it sucked shit through a silly straw. Ice Spice should just be left to rot in the toilet where this fecal matter belongs.
Firstly I enjoyed the Intro with Apocalyptica, and how it was calm and then it transitions to Her Voice Resides, which absolutely teared me a new asshole. It slapped and it made me want to boogie and headband through a window until my head is severed, which is a feeling I felt throughout the album. All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me) was a good middle track that was still heavy, but softer compared to the rest of the album. The best and most memorable for me is Tears Don't Fall ... read more
This album is filled with bangers. I have never listened to an album where bass is prevalent which made it stick out to me. The vocals can either be catchy or get annoying at times. But that is my only complaint about the album. It is filled with the most catchy and memorable songs from their catalog (That I have listened to).
I really wanted to like this album as the songs I had previously heard from this album were bangers to me. However the pacing gave me whiplash as it felt like they could not tell what they wanted it to sound like. It would be this hard rock and grunge sound, then next song would be all soft and it just left a weird feeling after listening to this. Not saying that the softer songs were not good or that they can't have different sounds, but it felt like the mix between the rock and soft soft ... read more
Overall it is a good first album that mixes Corey's deep writing and vocals with stellar playing by the rest of the band.
I never listened to much Blink-182 before this, and I was pleasantly surprised. Whether it be the breakneck speed during the songs, or the banter that goes on during and between songs it is appealing. Some might find the banter immature, but it brings character to an album that already has it in the performances.
The extra song increases its rating compared to the original.
It is less heavy than what I am used to from them, but they still manage to be heavy with its themes and sounds.
This song is already a beast, and the full version is not even out yet.
It has a mix of some good songs, and some mediocre ones. I understand that Dave is not at his vocal peak anymore which is why some of the vocals sound goofy. I was disappointed about the Ride The Lightning cover as I was expecting it to be a bit faster, as well as having original solos, but I had my expectations high Overall their final album could have turned out a lot worse than it was.
