I made this rating and review a couple months ago as a joke, but this review is now changed so I can say that I will no longer support Brad Taste in Music.
I started watching his videos in late 2023 to early 2024, became a subscriber in April of 2024 and eventually a channel member the following month because his videos and opinions were entertaining and made me think of music differently, even if I disagreed with some of his opinions like his reaction to Disturbed's The Sickness (which I ... read more
I've made it vocal a few times that I hate Sleep Token and it's not because their music sucks, but it's because they fail to understand on how to execute certain things and make it work. For example, the genre blending gives off very little and doesn't feel rewarding most of the time, the production makes the softer parts feel too loud and the harder parts feel too quiet (basically making both elements feel equal when they should not be), and Vessel doing the yarl for parts ... read more
I found these guys on a whim and I am happy that I did. These guys are extremely talented and make damn good music. I started with this album since it is their shortest album, but it might already be one of their best (unless everything else is as excellent as this). Monomyth, Thoughts and Prayers, and Gordian Naught are fucking amazing. Since Meshuggah is my favorite band, it makes sense why I would love this band too; their style fits the mold of Meshuggah and adds jazz influences and other ... read more
While it may not be as consistent or as powerful of a listen as To Pimp a Butterfly, that does not mean this album is far from anything close to perfection. It's got a rich and deep story intertwined in each song and it sounds amazing too. There are so many amazing songs that I could come back to; The Art of Peer Pressure, m.A.A.d city, Swimming Pools (Drank), and Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst are perfection. I've been replaying this album from time to time and it is for ... read more
Compared to many other nu metal bands, Soulfly is able to separate themselves by having a distinct sound in their music. In that case, it's all the Brazilian elements and percussion that makes this album feel less like dudes in a studio but just the open air of Brazil in music. The tribal elements are also excellent and hit the reptilian part of the brain very well. That is probably why Tribe is my favorite song off the album. Overall, an excellent by Soulfly and is probably my favorite ... read more
While I don't think this album holds up as well when compared to Ride the Lightning or Master of Puppets (especially in terms of production), I still find this album to be very enjoyable from start to finish. One is a fucking classic and for good reason, and Dyers Eve has got to be a top 3 Metallica song of all time (probably #2 for me behind Fight Fire With Fire). Seriously, that song fucking rocks shit up and it at least deserves to bein the conversation for the best song they've ... read more
