I made this rating and review a couple months ago as a joke, but this review is now changed so I can say that I will no longer support Brad Taste in Music.
I started watching his videos in late 2023 to early 2024, became a subscriber in April of 2024 and eventually a channel member the following month because his videos and opinions were entertaining and made me think of music differently, even if I disagreed with some of his opinions like his reaction to Disturbed's The Sickness (which I ... read more
I've made it vocal a few times that I hate Sleep Token and it's not because their music sucks, but it's because they fail to understand on how to execute certain things and make it work. For example, the genre blending gives off very little and doesn't feel rewarding most of the time, the production makes the softer parts feel too loud and the harder parts feel too quiet (basically making both elements feel equal when they should not be), and Vessel doing the yarl for parts ... read more
I found these guys on a whim and I am happy that I did. These guys are extremely talented and make damn good music. I started with this album since it is their shortest album, but it might already be one of their best (unless everything else is as excellent as this). Monomyth, Thoughts and Prayers, and Gordian Naught are fucking amazing. Since Meshuggah is my favorite band, it makes sense why I would love this band too; their style fits the mold of Meshuggah and adds jazz influences and other ... read more
While it may not be as consistent or as powerful of a listen as To Pimp a Butterfly, that does not mean this album is far from anything close to perfection. It's got a rich and deep story intertwined in each song and it sounds amazing too. There are so many amazing songs that I could come back to; The Art of Peer Pressure, m.A.A.d city, Swimming Pools (Drank), and Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst are perfection. I've been replaying this album from time to time and it is for ... read more
Compared to many other nu metal bands, Soulfly is able to separate themselves by having a distinct sound in their music. In that case, it's all the Brazilian elements and percussion that makes this album feel less like dudes in a studio but just the open air of Brazil in music. The tribal elements are also excellent and hit the reptilian part of the brain very well. That is probably why Tribe is my favorite song off the album. Overall, an excellent by Soulfly and is probably my favorite ... read more
While I don't think this album holds up as well when compared to Ride the Lightning or Master of Puppets (especially in terms of production), I still find this album to be very enjoyable from start to finish. One is a fucking classic and for good reason, and Dyers Eve has got to be a top 3 Metallica song of all time (probably #2 for me behind Fight Fire With Fire). Seriously, that song fucking rocks shit up and it at least deserves to bein the conversation for the best song they've ... read more
I'll be honest: I never listened to much Radiohead before this album with the only songs I've heard beforehand being Creep (which I am not a fan of) and No Surprises (which I think is a great song). I decided to listen to this album since I've heard it's one of their best albums and it was part of the ambient genre which I really like. What I did not expect going into this was how much of an experience this would turn out to be. This is already one of my favorite albums of ... read more
I'll say that I am far from an Imagine Dragons fan. In fact, I am closer to a hater, especially when I have given albums like Evolve a 35/100 and Mercury - Act 1 a 15/100 on this site. However, I have to say that Night Visions might be the band's best album. It's far from perfect and it has problems like unoriginality and being generic, but I can see that some effort was at least put into this project instead of being lazily thrown together like Mercury - Acts 1 & 2. Tiptoe ... read more
I'll say that this album is a step in the right direction compared to their debut. It has better production, better instrumentals, and better singing by David Draiman. I really enjoyed Liberate as a metal track, but my personal favorite has to be Darkness. I don't know why, but the soft and slow ballad closer just hits harder to me. This could be David's best performance as a singer, even better than the Sound of Silence cover some people like to bring up as his best performance. ... read more
Honestly, I am not entirely sure why I like this album so much than I expect to. It could be because this album came after Immortalized and Evolution and those don't hold as well as "Disturbed" albums and this one brings back most of their original sound. It could also be from my bias that was as a former Disturbed fan that I like this album. The reason I question myself of this is because this should have the elements that make me not like an album as much including a cringe ... read more
After listening to To Pimp a Butterfly, I had a very good feeling about this album and hoped for a similar-ish experience. Although, I don't know why I went in this album with that mindset, but I still hoped for the best for this album. I'll say that I like the story going on in this album. It is definitely darker and it brings a new vibe to bring while listening. I'll say that DNA. and I think HUMBLE. are the two songs I remember hearing before listening to this entire LP (I ... read more
After listening to Minecraft - Volume Alpha, I had high expectations with this album as a whole, especially since I have listened to this whole album in this past. Coming back, even though I believe Volume Alpha fits better in the scenery of Minecraft, in a listening experience outside of that, this is easily the better of the two albums. Every single song invoke some form of emotion and I never thought about listening to something else once when listening to this; not even during the longer ... read more
If there is ever a song I would legitimately give a score of a 0, this would be it. I only use a minimum of 10 as my worst songs, but this song is special in a way that I'd rather give this a 0. Never have I ever felt such second-hand embarrassment from something such as this. Hobo Johnson is able to bring out a mood that no one really wants to feel when listening to music. There might be other contenders for worst song of all time, but this one is definitely up there.
I have grown up on Minecraft and I have always considered the music the main reason as to why I still have nostalgia. This is some of the greatest music I've ever heard, and in terms of the album as a whole, it feels like an experience worth listening to over and over again. I actually remember playing this entire album every day over and over again during study hall of my junior year of high school. It is not only excellent music to experience, but it also a great album to tune to when ... read more
I'll admit that this album has aged horribly in production and in sound. If you made a newborn hear this album, they'll even know what genre and era this album is from. Does that stop me from hearing this? Not really, although that is from a bias of loving this band for a certain period of my life and also pairing that with a period from 4th-10th grade of loving all nu metal. However, that doesn't mean this album is perfect. There is still plenty wrong with it. First, besides a ... read more
This rating is a joke (although, I'll probably give this rating for anything that are so bad I cannot rate properly), but holy shit is this dog shit. Even though I am a Disturbed fan and had considered my favorite band in my sophomore year and part of my junior year of high school, this is something I don't think anyone asked for. It hurts my fucking ears when I have earbuds in and it leaves me in a boring, agonizing pain without them. There is nothing redeemable about this. I may ... read more
I don't listen to hip-hop that much as I listen to mainly rock & metal. This is my second review of a hip-hop album (the other being The Slim Shady LP by Eminem) and I got to say that this was excellent to listen to. This is such a fantastic experience and I would like to listen to this more often. I honestly don't know what my favorite song is, but King Kunta, Alright, and The Blacker the Berry are the songs I come back to the most, so one of those are probably my favorite, but ... read more
I'm only gonna rate this album based on the original songs (i.e., War, By Emptiness Abducted, Don't Speak. and The Ayahuasca Experience). War is a fucking barn burner and will be a repeat hearing from me. By Emptiness Abducted and Don't Speak aren't memorable, but they still are enjoyable in some aspects so I'll give them that. The Ayahuasca Experience is bad; it's probably the only Meshuggah I'll classify as bad. It's probably a joke song, but I ... read more
During 6th & 7th grade, Linkin Park was my favorite band to listen to, especially with all the shit I had to deal with during middle school. They were something that were able to give me some form of comfort as I was struggling with bullying and suicidal thoughts. While many other factors helped me escape that, I still have to appreciate this band for being able to give me some sort of calm while dealing with it. Now, several years later, I have moved away from the band just like A7X, but ... read more
As someone who doesn't know German, I'll say that this album sounds good. Now, for some of the songs I looked up translations for, I'll say that I like the humor this band is trying to portray in their music. I mean, who doesn't want to listen to a song about someone using growling vocals while talking about how nice the day is? Overall, this album is very solid and if you were to check the lyrics, they have pretty solid humor in them too.
