The Browning - Geist

Discord Review (10/10/24)
This album is a really solid piece of work. Sick Minds is an amazing way to open up the album and easily the best intro from the band. Beyond Stone and Awakening the Omega show great use of softer vocals. Speaking of, this album is where they start implementing more softer vocals into their music then just the growls and screaming. While I've seen some people not enjoy them, I think they can be amazing when done properly, and I believe The Browning does a solid ... read more

The Browning - Isolation

Discord Review (10/10/24)
This might be their least impressive, but it's still got solid songs. Of the bigger songs, Pure Evil is very solid, Dragon is solid too but not a consistent listen, and Disconnect feels whatever. Even with Frankie Palmeri of Emmure as a feature, it doesn't keep me hooked. I will say though that some of the deeper cuts are pretty impressive. Isolation is a top 5, maybe top 3 track with that amazing synthetic melody. Spineless and Vortex also got good synth ... read more

The Browning - Hypernova

Discord Review (10/09/24)
This is probably The Browning's most underrated album. There's no song on this album that stands out that people can remember if they know this band. The only one that seems fitting is Industry, but that's really it. It's kinda sad because this album has some really good songs. Slaves is easily a top 5 track in their discography (love the Ancient Egyptian vibes) and Planet Hate is also a top 10 track. There are some solid but not outstanding songs ... read more

The Browning - Burn This World

Discord Review (10/09/24)
Several months ago, I used to proclaim that this band was one of, if not, my favorite band. Nowadays, I think they don't have as many highs nor are the albums close to being in the higher tiers, but they are still good for what it's worth. Their discography is probably the most consistent and I'll give them props for not really changing their sound too much and keeping the formula going. As for their debut album, Burn This World, this album is very solid ... read more

Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake

Discord Review (10/08/24)
Honestly, it took some time for me to give an honest listen from start to finish. Now, I believe this is one of the greatest albums ever made. Laid to Rest is a banger of a single, The Faded Line and One Gun got infectious grooves, and much more. This album has gotta be at least top 3 in their discography and one of the greatest albums in groove metal as well. What a banger

Soulfly - Primitive
90

Discord Review (10/08/24)
One of the most underrated nu metal bands in my opinion. If you like Sepultura, you'll like Soulfly, especially since Max Calavera is the long time rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist. Anyways, Primitive is basically them keeping the Brazilian and Sepultura vibes from their debut and keeping the formula going. I think it's better than their debut with amazing songs like Back to the Primitive, Flyhigh, and the complete nu metal anthem, Jumpdafuckup. Unlike ... read more

Meshuggah - None

Discord Review (10/06/24)
This is a solid EP, especially with it expanding to the direction of what would become their usual sound compared to regular thrash from their previous works. This is basically the footwork for Destroy Erase Improve. Overall, solid EP with thrash elements but with some progressive metal elements to become the start of their own sound moving forward.

Meshuggah - I (Special Edition)
100

Discord Review (10/06/24)
This EP is a must-listen. It really goes beyond usual rhythms and meters and is one of the most insane 20 minutes ever. I'm not counting Pitch Black since it's more of a bonus track and it's not needed for the complete listen. The 20 minute title track is all you need. This is randomness at it's best and a spectacle that defies music itself. There's a reason they have not played this song once. Overall, this is a masterpiece in music and truly ... read more

Polaris - Fatalism

Discord Review (10/1/24)
I love Polaris, but this album felt like a downgrade compared to the previous two albums. There are good songs like Inhumane and Dissipate, but it feels like they are doing some of the metalcore tropes that make it look bad and that's not what I want from this band. Overall, this album is good, but not what I want from this band, especially with losing their lead guitarist Ryan Siew at just 26. Rest in peace Ryan.

Polaris - The Mortal Coil

Discord Review (09/29/24)
Polaris has become one of my favorite metalcore bands. They're not innovating anything in the genre or standing out in an extreme way, they're just making standard metalcore but they are able to make it sound really good and relistenable. Lucid was my introduction to the band and it still slaps hard to this day. This could be my favorite Polaris album, though I'll need to review The Death of Me just to make sure. Anyways, this album is fantastic with a ... read more

Disturbed - Asylum

Discord Review (09/17/24)
I'll be honest. This album used to be far from one of my favorites of Disturbed. Probably 4th or 5th in Disturbed's discography. Now, this has become my 2nd favorite Disturbed album with a few of my favorite songs. Asylum is a banger with amazing and Sacrifice is such an underrated song and has become one of my favorites. There's really not much else that needs to be said other than the fact that this album is good.

Disturbed - Ten Thousand Fists

Discord Review (09/16/24)
I used to think this was my all-time favorite album ever. And while I still think it's a great album still, I don't find it to be top tier anymore, even in Disturbed's discography. There's plenty of good songs like the title track, Just Stop, Guarded, and Avarice (which is my second favorite Disturbed song behind Inside the Fire). There isn't a single bad track, which results in a consistent listen from start to finish. Overall, this is a very ... read more

Metallica - St. Anger

Discord Review (09/15/24)
Yes. The infamous St. Anger. The album that could've destroyed the band. This album is considered their worst and for good reason. The most obvious one is the snare and it isn't entirely annoying, but the decision to turn off the snares and have that noise instead boggles me. The biggest issue I have with this album is the production. I don't usually bring up production since I'm not in anyway qualified to know when something is produced badly or ... read more

Metallica - Ride the Lightning

Discord Review (08/30/24)
This is a classic for a very good reason. It's got some of Metallica's well-known songs, great riffs, great lyrics & vocals, and overall some of their best songs ever. I've said it many times before and I'll say it again: Fight Fire With Fire is my all-time favorite Metallica song and I'll take that to my grave. It's also one of, if not, the best way imo to open up an album; tease you with a soft, acoustic guitar and then kick you in ... read more

Korn - Follow The Leader

Discord Review (08/28/24)
Hot take: this is probably Korn's most overrated album. Yes, it's got classic songs like Got the Life and Freak on a Leash and those are good songs, but most of the tracks off this album range from mediocre to downright awful. The first four tracks are definitely the best ones but then it gets really inconsistent after that with some good songs like B.B.K. and Justin, but then you get the really bad like All In the Family. Overall, it's kinda messy and ... read more

Korn - Korn

Discord Review (08/27/24)
This was a great album to start the nu metal genre. It's got a great atmosphere with the low, distorted guitars and uncanny vocals. The subject matter is also pretty dark too which works with their sound. Divine is probably my all-time favorite Korn track. Overall, a defining album for the genre and I think it's Korn's best album. Side note, Daddy is the first full-length song I refuse to give a score for a couple reasons. The smaller reason is the ... read more

Avenged Sevenfold - Life Is But a Dream...

Discord Review (08/25/24)
This is a weird album. The concept of it is very interesting and it's sound unlike most A7X albums and other metal music to begin with. There are some good songs like Cosmic which is beautiful to listen to, but then there are okay songs like Beautiful Morning and (O)rdinary. Also, there is a very noticeable vocal strain by M. Shadows and there is some messy production going on. Also, the album starts off pretty solid but then falls off, but it's able to ... read more

Asking Alexandria - Where Do We Go From Here?

Discord Review (08/24/24)
I decided to skip See What's On the Inside and went straight to this one. Honestly, I was shocked by how not bad it was and also by how good it actually is. This is a very consistent album and has some very good songs like Nothing Left and the title track. Yes, the lyrics are cringe/corny and it's still not my Asking Alexandria, but it's got many moments where I was jamming to and it's got a decent energy. Production isn't bad either so I ... read more

Discord Review (08/23/24)
Honestly, for a nu metal album, this is definitely one of the better ones. It's got an amazing story, amazing vocals, amazing instrumentation. Almost everything about this album is done extremely well. I would recommend anyone who likes nu metal to give this album a shot. This is one of the best albums in this decade.

Knocked Loose - Upon Loss Singles

After listening to their latest album, I wanted to listen to more Knocked Loose. And these two singles they released last year are amazing songs that still keep the same vibe as the album. There isn't much else to say besides both of these songs are great.
