Discord Review (08/21/24)
This album is bad. It's actually bad. I believe this album was the reason I put all of modern Asking Alexandria as the worst thing ever. This is one of the most uninspired, most dull, most disingenuous thing I've heard. As if they couldn't simplify their sound any further, they went ahead to the biggest degree. I'm so glad they stopped this sound after this album. Sure, they're still hard rock, but at least you get heavier moments and lyrics ... read more

Asking Alexandria - Asking Alexandria

Discord Review (8/20/24)
Okay. It's been a while since I've listened to any post-The Black albums and this was kind of a surprise since I hated this album when I listened to it. The only song I liked was Alone in a Room which still holds up, but I've now realized there are other stuff in here that's still good. There are bad duds like When the Lights Come On and Under Denver, but there are songs I now like a lot like Eve and Room 138. It's still not my Asking Alexandria ... read more

Asking Alexandria - Stand Up and Scream

Discord Review (08/16/24)
This album is one of the most fun things I've listened to. Sure, the lyrics are what to expect from a scene band of members in their late-teens/early 20's (corny and obnoxious), but they make the music so fun that I can't help but have a great time with it. Honestly, I'm an easy man if you make an album fun. Because if you do that, I'll definitely always have a good time and not care too much about the lyrics (unless they are right up in your ... read more

Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To

Discord Review (08/10/24)
I heard this album was good and what metal needed, but I never thought it would be this good. I honestly believe this deserves to be a 10/10 album. It's got amazing energy from start to finish, lyrics sound and look great and not some angsty teen trying to sound edgy, and it's also less than half an hour which is great if I want a quick album to listen to. Every track is an absolute banger, with the last two being the best way to close this album off. This ... read more

Eminem - The Slim Shady LP

Discord Review (08/01/24)
The first rap album I've done and I'll be honest. This was pretty good overall. Sure, most of the content hasn't aged the best and there's better stuff Eminem has made imo, but this was not a bad album in anyway for a major project. Also, some of the songs like '97 Bonnie & Clyde and Rock Bottom have amazing storytelling and I think that's what makes most of these songs good. If there wasn't any good story in these songs, this ... read more

Disturbed - Evolution

Discord Review (07/30/24)
This is probably Disturbed's weakest album. There are 6 "hard" songs and 4 acoustics in this album and it's kinda distracting. It's very clear they're trying to grab onto what made their Sound of Silence cover so popular and trying to beat that down in this album. It doesn't really work and the heavy songs on this album aren't as good as from other albums. I'll admit Are You Ready is a banger and is in my top 10 favorite ... read more

Disturbed - Indestructible

Discord Review (07/29/24)
I'm surprised I did not do a Disturbed album much earlier, but here we go. Honestly, since listening to bands like Meshuggah, I had a feeling I may not like this as much as before. After listening, it still gives me that good feeling as before. Inside the Fire is still my all time favorite Disturbed song and this album will most likely stay as my favorite Disturbed album. It stays solidly consistent throughout the whole project. My Disturbed bias and love will ... read more

Meshuggah - Contradictions Collapse

Discord Review (07/28/24)
Not a bad album for thrash, but it's also clear that they're trying to find their footing. This album is very inspired by other thrash metal bands like Metallica. In fact in some of the songs, the vocals sound a little like James Hetfield. I've also heard someone call this like a sequel to Metallica's ...And Justice For All which I can kinda see. Overall, this album is a solid thrash metal album. However, when I compare this album to the rest of ... read more

Meshuggah - Destroy Erase Improve

Discord Review (07/28/24)
The first half of this album is genuinely amazing with songs like Future Breed Machine, Soul Burn, and Transfixion. However, the second half doesn't hold up to the same vein as the first. I'll admit that Suffer in Truth is the one song off that half that is great, but it doesn't save the entire half. This album is a classic and I can come back to it, but the inconsistency between the two halves make it not as great as other albums off their discography.

Meshuggah - The Violent Sleep of Reason

Discord Review (07/28/24)
When compared to the rest of Meshuggah's discography, it doesn't hold up as well, but it's still great in plenty of ways that make me want to come back to it. Clockworks is seriously an amazing song and definitely the best highlight of this album. Monstrocity and Nostrum are also bangers of songs. This album does feel a little bloated and maybe similar at times, but it's Meshuggah and they can't really fuck up at this stage of their career. ... read more

Sleep Token - This Place Will Become Your Tomb

Discord Review (07/22/24)
This is probably Sleep Token's worst album. It's so boring, worst than Sundowning. The only song I'll come back to is Hypnosis and Alkaline is a maybe. This is seriously boring. Extremely boring. Every song is no different from one to another. I'm just gonna say for my own sake: even though their music isn't terrible per se, FUCK Sleep Token. I'm sick and done of this and I'm glad I'm over with these albums. Vocals are a chore, ... read more

The Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity

Discord Review (07/15/24)
A revolutionary album for its time and one of the first mathcore albums ever. And the "math" part is right. It's got SO many odd time signatures found everywhere, and it also induces anxiety as well. Plus, it's jazz influences give off a great feel not many metalcore bands do nowadays. In fact, it saddens me how modern metalcore has turned out. When I compare it to stuff like this, it doesn't feel the same. Overall, this album was truly ahead ... read more

Meshuggah - Catch Thirtythree

Discord Review (07/12/24)
It is an interesting concept for an album and they did it before with the I EP and that was awesome. However, this doesn't really translate well as an album. I like the actual concept they were going and it's not a bad idea to have one song split into different sections as the album, but they could've executed it better. There are some moments I feel bored and that is crazy for me to say on a Meshuggah album. There are highlights including the combo of ... read more

Imagine Dragons - LOOM

Discord Review (07/09/24)
Honestly, with very low expectations, this album was a lot better than I expected. They really tried to put quality over quantity especially when compared to Mercury Acts 1 and 2 where it seemed like they just put out whatever and it caused an hour and a half of mostly garbage. This time, it's less than 30 minutes which I will give them props for. For the music itself, it's kinda alright. There are some highlights like In Your Corner and Fire In These Hills ... read more

Meshuggah - Immutable

Discord Review (07/04/24)
There is nothing that needs to say about this album other than it's one of the greatest things ever made. The fact 4 of the 5 members are in their 50s, making this album, that's impressive. Broken Cog is the perfect way to open up the album with it's primitive, tribal, and punchy groove. Then songs like The Abysmal Eye and Ligature Marks keep bringing out the best of this album. Like Koloss, not a single song is below a 9/10 (I'm not counting Black ... read more

Meshuggah - Chaosphere

Discord Review (07/04/24)
The name of the album isn't a joke. This is pure and utter chaos from start to finish. There is not a single breathing room in this album. The sound of this album basically defines chaos and insanity. New Millenium Cyanide Christ (crazy name I might add), Neurotica, and Sane show them going into a new direction compared to their previous albums, and they succeed in doing so. The outro, Elastic, is the perfect description of this album with the insanity staying the ... read more

Discord Review (07/04/24)
This has a more simplistic style compared to their other albums, but it still packs quite the punch. If you're willing to get into Meshuggah, this is probably the album to do so. There are so much goodness going on. Bleed in particular is probably in my top 5 or even top 3 favorite Meshuggah tracks of all time. The fact it's their biggest song too is a little endearing. There are others I can talk about including the title track and Pravus that bring out ... read more

Meshuggah - Koloss

Discord Review (06/17/24)
This is probably Meshuggah's best album they've made and my favorite album of all time as of rn. Every single track is a bonafide (monafide) masterpiece and it's got the most 10/10 songs out of any album as of rn. Master of Puppets was #1 with 5, but this album blew that out with 7! The Demon's Name Is Surveillance, The Hurt That Finds You First, and Marrow are genuinely some of the best music I've ever heard. Overall, this album is perfection. ... read more

Meshuggah - Nothing

Discord Review (06/17/24)
What a fucking banger. This album is seriously one of the best albums I've ever heard. This is the start of Meshuggah going more groove metal and implementing more technical songwriting. The guitars sound great (even though it is nearly all low notes, it's implemented using I'm pretty sure all strings on a 7 or 8 string guitar), the drums are probably my favorite part of this album, the bass is killer, and Jens's vocals are god like. Rational Gaze, ... read more

Pantera - Reinventing the Steel

Discord Review (06/07/24)
An amazing album for Pantera to end off with. In fact, I'll Cast a Shadow was probably the best song to end their entire discography. This album has classics including Hellbound, Yesterday Don't Mean Shit, Death Rattle, and more. While this album doesn't have a true standout for me like some of Pantera's earlier albums, it consistently has awesome tracks to listen to and is probably my third favorite Pantera album of all time. Overall, an awesome ... read more
