Again, another amazing EP from Evadney that I forgot to review for some reason.
His production on here is fuller and even more experimental than his first EP, Sold Love, Sold. Kisses sounds like something Arca would produce, but Evadney injects his R&B flavor into it, and it sounds incredible. The rest of the EP is just as great, even if I do enjoy his first EP more. There's not much to say about Evadney's music that I didn't say in my review of his debut EP. It's just futuristic and ... read more
I'd like to thank spotify recommendations for bringing this outstanding artist to my attention a while ago. I thought I had already done a review for this, but apparently not.
Ok so... this EP. Wow. Just... wow. It's fucking beautiful. Evadney's mix of experimental, glitchy electropop and melancholic R&B is so unique. I want to say his style/voice sounds like a mix between Frank Ocean and serpentwithfeet (yes, I know I just did) but he's sooooooooo much more than that.
His voice carries ... read more
isn't a punk album supposed to be, ya know... punky?
the vocalist ruins every already generic song with his terribly monotone and utterly boring voice. he sounds like he's taken a handful of benadryl and is trying to stay awake to record his shitty vocals. I would say his voice puts me to sleep, but no. instead, I get irritated by how annoyingly dull it is. and to make it worse, some of the lyrics on here are so tedious and repetitive that it magnifies the sheer monotony of this album. I've been hyped for this album since it got announced and "Lord Mohamad" dropped as a single. The song was so abrasive, political, and wacked-out; it had me thoroughly intrigued. I already love noise rap and experimental hip hop, and Deathbomb Arc never disappoints with their continual flood of extremely creative artists and albums on the musical fringe.
And this is another one of those times where they didn't disappoint. At all. This is some of the weirdest, freakiest rap that I've ... read more
Edit 2: It's now my #1 album on last.fm, which I've started using since September 17th of last year... so yeah. This album makes me wanna give every other album from 2019 a 0.
Edit: FUCK IT ISSA 10. I love every goddam second of this album. I haven't been this enamored by an album in a while, and I can't. stop. listening. to. it. It's already one of my most listened-to albums on last.fm... of all time... yeah, this is my AOTY. If anything beats this, I might explode. What a great year for ... read more
Just some dirty, catchy rapping from an angry trans woman with a lot of shit to say about her queer, black identity. Tracks like "DON'T COME TO THE WOODS" and "BAD JUJU" are relentlessly hard and gritty, but she slows it down on tracks like "YOU LIKE MY BODY THE WAY IT IS" to be even more introspective on her struggles, specifically body image and gender dysphoria. You don't want to miss this one. The Melt-Banana sample on "DEVIL IN A MOSHPIT" made me ... read more
I've been waiting for this album for so long, and it was easily one of my most anticipated albums of 2019. The three singles they released were incredible, and I seriously thought that if every song on the album followed suit, then this was going be the best rap album of the year - maybe even the best album of the year overall. I was so hyped, and when the night came, I eagerly listened to it the moment it dropped.
I was speechless after finishing. Wow. This is the most disappointing album of ... read more
You know an album's good when it makes you laugh maniacally on the first listen. What an insane experience.
Most of the tracks on here are very enjoyable. I absolutely love the soothing production and Boogie's introspective lyrics.
Too bad Eminiem ruins Rainy Days by aggressively rapping about clapping some sheeps' cheeks.
