Well, listening to this I can't help but think everyone in the studio was actually had their ass blasted off to mars. The songs on this album actaully feel like they were made on another planet, but somehow, its kinda peak.
All these songs seem to focus more on rythym rather than melody, which I actually like. Even though the lyrics in Sing Swan Song don't really say anything at all, its still a sad song, I don't really know how to explain it. Vitamin C is a good song in general, ... read more
Idk, my dad listens to the Grateful Dead and it feels good to finally give it a good listen, and this being my second endower into the Grateful Dead (at least the second album I've listened too) I was still surprised at how good it is.
It has a brighter sound than Live/Dead, which was nice.
Dont know what else to say, AWESEOME ALBUM, deserves to be remembered.
Rest in peace Bob Weir, you were an inspiration to many.

Awesome album, it is exactly what I suspected it to be, a nice mellow atmospheric album with no bad songs. I thought I wouldn't like this album this much to be honest, but I do still think that this album will grow on me even more in the future. This album is insanely consistent, capturing my mind despite the slow hypnotic sleepy type music (and I also listened to this album 2 in the morning), through all of this I was still engaged in each song, I surprisingly did all of that without ... read more
GOOD ALBUM. I don't know what I smoked, but apparently i smoked something the first time I listened to this album to not like it, on the second listen I now love the album. Each song is strong, from the title track to Cygnus X-1 Book I: The Voyage, even the smaller ones between the long epics like Cinderella Man and Closer to the Heart are also good, maintaining the quality established with the opener (Farewell to Kings). Favorite track is Xandadu, and my second fav is the title track.
This was my introduction into Santana, and what a beautiful introduction, awesome all around. Got some jazz rock, got some psychedelia, got blues, what more can you want? All the tracks had immaculate rhythm and had everything I wanted it to have. The album cover for this perfectly fits the music. No bad songs on this album, but there are standouts.
