Wolflust - Satanic Megatons

Saw the cover flipping through the pages of a local distro's site and thought holy shit. This looks like trash. I need it.
And yeah, it's super average, kinda obnoxious at time, basic bitch war metal... but have you ever seen a stupider album cover? TRULY?

Funeral Storm - Arcane Mysteries

Simplistic, perhaps, but quite catchy. The theme of mysticism means it's a bit cheesy (shoutout to the intro) and I know it's a turn off for some BUT it is quite fun mixed with the melodies inherent to the genre. It's the kind of stuff that'd be weird if it wasn't *melodic* black metal, but it works.
Some better tracks than others for sure. Necromancer, Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 are great, almost reminiscent of storytelling with the way they flow - and then Origin of Utter Evil is a very boring, flat ... read more

I tried putting my biases aside because I wanted to like this but I couldn't do it. I reallyyy don't like nu metal so this was never going for to be me - but it wasn't as bad as it could have been! The more electronic the tracks were the more I was able to enjoy them, and a handful of songs were actually enjoyable - mainly S.A.D. and Do It So Good. Probably way more fun live, with people, than alone in my room, listened to in the silence of the night. To be cringe is to be free though, so I ... read more

The Devil's Blood - The Time of No Time Evermore

Heavier than The Thousandfold Epicentre, this feels like a modernized Coven - which is to say this is insane psychedelic occult rock with amazing female vocals. The lyrics are dramatic, the atmosphere is chilling, the themes of spiritual occult are both cheesy and compelling. Something about the drumming + muddy guitar combo makes it an hypnotic listen from start to finish, both in the more energetic tracks and in moreso laid-back ones. Evermore + I'll be Your Ghost is a PERFECT sequence of ... read more

Exit Eden - Femmes Fatales

Unfortunately not a start-to-finish hit as Rhapsodies in Black was. Inoffensive, somewhat generic, symphonic metal, carried by the vocalists in my opinion. I find the songs to either be boring or forgettable in the sea of other albums in the genre, or unironically have been playing them on loop for the past week... Which is unfortunate because I found their past project, as well as the vocalists' other bands, to be way more consistent in the quality of their tracks. Disappointing release, but ... read more
