It’s personal, dark, brooding, creepy, mysterious, complex, and vague. But most importantly it was the calm before the storm that is Devon Hendryx’ most monumental, and life changing album, ‘The Ghost ~ Pop Tape’.
An amazing EP that does exactly what it sets out to do, create that darker more isolating atmosphere, and display ideas that would be fully fleshed out in ‘The Ghost ~ Pop Tape’. The first side starts us off with one of my favourite Hendryx ... read more
Preface - I've been a Peggy fan for a couple of hours at this point, starting from DSS, and slowly finding out about all of Peggy's amazing works down the line. I have had a lot of time to digest all of his works.
After letting this one simmer for over a week, I have come to, I think fully appreciate all of the songs. It does so much right, improves on issues I had with past albums, and evolves in a completely new direction that I have never heard an artist take. The amount of ideas ... read more
My absolute favourite, favourite David Bowie album. Blackstar was one of my first Bowie songs and I had immediately fallen in love with it's uniquely haunting atmosphere. At that age, I didn't know of Bowies passing, but was excited to explore his catalogue,. and he had created some of the most memorable songs, that have made up my childhood. Years later, I decide to listen to this album, fully. Ever since that first listen, it has just gotten better and better with each listen. Each ... read more
Grab your blender, chuck in OPN's 'Replica', Shum's 'Levegő', John Maus, and Cocteaux Twins, blend it nice and well, and you get 'Forever'. One of my favourite albums of it's kind, the utilization of heavy, but not weighted, soundscapes, just impresses me. The texture, and sound are all so familiar, but so unique. Which is exactly what I love about this album. Obviously it draws inspiration from many different albums, but where it takes these ... read more
Generation Y 1989 is one of devon's best songs, the instrumental is such a perfect blend of cinematic, chill, beauty, and it's just a tiny bit unnerving/ ominous.
One of my favourite songs ever, this is the greatest version of this song, and is utter 80s synth perfection.
It says the genre is "experimental and industrial hip hop". Where is the experimentation ? Where is the industrial atmosphere ? This is a copy paste album filled with travis scott, post industrial mg girl, doom, looped beats. I feel like ive heard some of these instrumentals tbh. If you say this sounds like a rap album from "2093", youve just succesfully embarrased yourself and proven how small the scope of your music taste is. But the beats off this album dont even play as ... read more
Similar to my opinion on Silent Hill 2. Played this one only a couple years later, but goddd. Its just as good as sh2, and the soundtrack is just mghhh. A STRAY CHILD IE THE BEST SONG EVER!!!!!!!!!!
Edit: Come back to this one and, its so much better than I first thought, its so dirty, its like a darker, more modern 36 chambers.
Quick note: (can anyone recommend me albums with that same aesthetic as the first 4 tracks?)
Super amazing atmosphere, espcially the ones prod by peggy. The quality takes a bit of a dip after the first 4 tracks (which are so grimy and atmospheric, really good), although not by much as theyre all super interesting. And then goes back up for the last 4 songs. If ... read more
Ever since I first played this game (when i was like 8, bc my parents did not give a fuck about what i played), The soundtrack was the most mesmerising part of this game. I didnt finish it when i first played obviously, but the little cenematic music, adn the music in the first section of the game is, just the best music ever. This is without a doubt, my most favourite, closely held, and cherished album of all time. Ive been listening to at least one or two songs from this album, for literal ... read more
After a few relistens, this has gone from my least favourite peggy record, to realizing its his best under the JPEGMAFIA name. The experimentallness, the sound, the rock fused with a hauntingly comforting autotune heaven, which is eased in so well, just makes this project undeniably perfect. It sounds so pleasent, but has this slightly disturbing layer on it. The aesthetic that this album emanates, is unlike anything you will ever hear.
This is one of the best albums, ever. Genre bending, creative, and has one of the most amazing sounds ive ever heard. Lyrics, are depressing, and to know what Peggy was going through during this makes it even more interesting (He was at the height of his depression, in the military, and suffering from a porn addiciton). All of his feelings culminate into this one gorgeous art piece. The movie that accompanies this is weird, disgusting, provacative, and pervertedly interesting, as much as it is ... read more

Its not just a “very good” ambient record, its amazing, and honestly one of the best ive heard. It just makes you feel as though you’ve died, or dying in, not a horribly tragic way like being burned to death, but rather sitting in the coldest blizzard, freezing to death.
Very good ambient record, very atmospheric. I like how a few of the tracks sound like overtly worn down slushwave/ mallsoft tracks, mixed in with this post apocalyptic feeling.
Cold - 100
Lost - ... read more
Overrated, it's like taking atmospheric soundtracks from a bunch of video games, and only putting in their weakest tracks onto one album. Yes there are some high notes but everything is pretty average on the scale of ambient albums. Also kind of a copy of some brian eno stuff
Found this vinyl at a record store for $20, thought the art was really cool and thought id give it a try. my first “blind” vinyl, and damn was it worth it. The first half is very, industrial, dark, atmospheric and ambient, reminds me a lot of silent hill, especially 1. And then track 6 comes out with this dark, synthy, almost jpegmafia type beat. This whole album is an experience and feels like there is some underlying story to it, each track feels like a movement from one place to ... read more
Very interesting debut, but its too, debut experimental. Seems like someone trying to find their footing, but just not having enough balance. Many tracks are repetitive, but the whole vibe does deserve some credit.
