oh this has aged poorly... remember how i said that True Romance is very "early 10s" in a nostalgic & adorable way? well unfortunately that does not apply to Sucker
while there're some highlights and okay-ish songs, mostly it is just an incredibly annoying album
Fav Tracks: Boom Clap, Body of My Own
corny but in the most adorable & fun manner
you can tell it was released in 2013 but not in an annoying way, more like in a warm nostalgic way yk
charli took every good thing about the early 10s electropop music and placed it in True Romance
unfortunately, the first half is significantly better than the second
Fav Tracks: Set Me Free, You, Nuclear Season
wow this was MUCH better than I remembered.... not as interesting as some of charli's other projects but still very consistent and entertaining
several great pop moments and some boring-ish stuff but zero bad songs actually! kinda impressive
and deluxe tracks were an amazing addition
very solid pop album! y'all need to lern how to have fun
Fav Tracks: Lightning, Move Me, Sorry If I Hurt You, Yuck
this & self-titled are always fighting for the title of my third favourite Charli xcx album and I still can't decide which one deserves it more... depends on a day yk
some absolute pop perfections like Track 10 & Backseat as well as several underwhelming moments that aren't not doing that much for me like Unlock It & I Got It
however, production is amazing even on the songs that I like less, there's no denying that!
Fav Tracks: Track 10, Backseat, Lucky, Tears, ... read more
very entertaining
i wish it had a little less features and cutting out some songs would only benefit the album, but overall it's easily one of the strongest and most consistent projects in charli's discography
it contains several career highlight, and I Don't Wanna Know is one of my favourite charli songs ever
a lot of amazing mainstream pop moments combined with more experimental sound
unfortunately, i still can't connect "emotionally" to majority of the songs ... read more
even though I've always loved this album, I feel like i never quite gave it the appreciation it deserves
after relistening yesterday, i became more obsessed than ever; just constantly replaying these 11 tracks
amazing project filled with creative production and sensual lyrics
charli's magnus opus
Fav Tracks: detonate, claws, forever, party 4 u, enemy
very vibrant fun and entertaining !
many songs have this weirdly nostalgic feeling which i really really enjoyed
also it balances really well between being accessible and experimental
sooo glad i finally listened to this one, for sure one of the strongest releases of the year so far!
Fav Songs: Ice Cream Piano, Classical, Capricorn, Gen-X Cops, Hope
unfortunately it's too obvious that this is a soundtrack album
however, it's still very solid and tbf really not as messy as yall say it is
a lot of good tracks and maybe even a few small career highlights but nothing mind-blowing
goodbye childish gambino!
Fav Songs: Lithonia, Step Beach, Real Love, Yoshinoya, Cruisin, Dadvocate
there's absolutely no reason for this album to be an hour long
remember kids: always choose quality over quantity! would've been a much better project without these filler tracks...
even though i found it to be more or less consistent in quality and i enjoyed the production, songs definitely lack some versatility which makes them significantly less memorable
it's filled with some absolute bangers though, i gotta give them that !
very sweet, very charming !
really enjoyed the soundscape of the album: bubbly, detailed and kinda retro-ish
loved he piano and the hints of jazz!
however there just weren’t that many high highs for me... i'm not a big clairo fan in general
it's definitely a grower tho
this feels like a clairo shade...
Favs: Nomad, Add Up My Love, Echo
well this was underwhelming
bops are mostly fun but they’re just too bland for my liking… like there’s no “spark” idk
ballads felt unfinished… some of them had potential but the production ruined everything
overall the album is kinda uninspired idk
i fear sabrina really peaked with eics
i wish she explored more more genres (even simply within pop) and more themes lyrically
“I’m horny & crazy” stuff is getting a little tired
Fav ... read more
wow… im blown away
the soundscape is just fascinating
every single song is extremely well executed and the whole thing is so amazingly crafted
you can tell that they’ve thought through every little detail
even though a couple of songs need to grow on me a little more, they all fit perfectly within the album
feels like some sort of adventure through the galaxy
Fav Songs: She Looked Like Me!, Death&Romance, Cry For Me, That’s My Floor, The Ballad of Matt & Mica and ... read more
AOTY !
the soundscape is just mind-blowing…
loud, crazy and super entertaining
the way she uses her voice is amazing, it perfectly blends with the production and creates an extremely emotive experience
she never misses somehow !
the best project released this year so far
okay let's go...
Unfortunately, the standard edition is filled with chops... Jack Antonoff should let go of this sound, and Taylor should let go of Jack. He's clearly holding her back, she needs to work with new producers or it will only go downhill from now on...
For an album where Taylor positions herself as a tortured poet, this album lacks the necessary lyrical value. Sometimes it's like she tries too hard... Several lyrics feel like Taylor is trying to imitate herself ?? ... read more
self-produced AND self-written... and, mind you, both are done perfectly! this is enough to understand how incredibly talented tori is
soundscape is fascinating... mysterious and yet very dynamic, it takes you literally anywhere emotionally - that's what i call a "perfectly built album"!
the arrangement is simply divine: at some moments my heart literally fluttered... i was levitating
moreover, her voice is absolutely mesmerizing and fits so well into the overall atmosphere of the ... read more
this album scratches your brain in the way it has never been scratched before... and it's the best feeling in the world!
just a mind-blowing experience
no idea what they're singing about, but i don't even care
i experienced a musical catharsis; the production of each track is truly insane... loud, colorful, emotional and entertaining
it really takes you somewhere else, somewhere amazing
truly phenomenal
they should study her creative approaches at universities cause this level of artistry is genuinely insane
in every aspect possible twigs aimed for the perfection!
production is mind blowing, it takes you to some sort of different universe..
song-writing is beautiful, vulnerable and very precise
her voice conveys every bit of emotion that songs hold in themselves, you can literally tear up just listening to her raw vocals
visuals are extremely creative and entertaining and ... read more
very vivid and colorful album with a really well-maintained atmosphere!
and this multitude of collaborations even seems to work in its favor, which rarely happens
it's very beautifully built too
and all this for a soundtrack album!
i had very low expectations but she did so well omg!
the only problems i have with this album are its length and corny lyrics here & there; i believe some interludes could've been easily taken out
other than that, it's amazing! there're several career highlights even
she really did the best she could within the genre, while also diving and dipping her toes into some different sounds along the way
