I like IDK—not always for him, but he’s always harbored good features from other artists. As a rapper himself, he’s average and this album supports that. Decent album, but he did degrade some of the songs, especially the Pusha one.
“This album here gon change the game” …Not exactly. Gamechanging decrease in quality since the first song, though
Thanks Don, now we know everything about your gf and relationship since every song is about them. The production’s good, but it’s lost on the fact that it’s almost the same the entire album. Secondhand is probably the most terrible on the album, and nothing really stuck out to me. Just eh
Didn’t hear anything bout this album before, and there’s a reason: I don’t think anyone really cares enough.
Almost 8 years, fine album. Some of the songs were vibes but not enough to break into the “good or pretty great” territory. Stay here 4 life is the best song on the album
As much as I dislike it, this is Carti’s first and only album so far that he hasn’t ripped off someone else’s style and/or produced it just for the sake of getting money.
If this was longer than 5 songs this would be at least an 85. hardheaded is one of the most heavenly songs I’ve ever listened to, probably top 30 favorite songs.
Carti made us wait years for this, promising it would come one day only for it to be delayed another year, and another, and another… the same wait was not worth it. This is robotic slop with more autotune than lyrics. A good half of the songs are listenable and an even smaller portion of that are enjoyable and can be bumped sometimes. Mediocre at best is a good way to describe this album.
Of course this isn’t The Forever Story, but I think it’s almost as good. Production and rapping is better on gdlu than tfs, but where it really loses to tfs is on the consistency, sequencing, and writing.
I booted up the album thinking that this would be a worthy new addition to Wayne’s The Carter series and left hating life. This album is undoubtedly Wayne’s worst, filled with soulless and sloppy autotune that makes it seem like you’re listening to AI. I don’t think any artist alive or dead could rap over the beat of Peanuts 2n Elephant and make it above mediocre.
