Yves Tumor - Safe in the Hands of Love

An album that accomplishes everything it sets out to, this is Yves Tumor's most accomplished release. Raw noise, punk, and pop; nothing about this record feels unsure. This album will live forever; it's a perfect testament to Post-Trump mania and confusion.

As the singles came out I was growing weary of this record, I couldn't quite contextualize them and they didn't seem to have their own identity, other than 'borderline.' With context, however, everything fits incredibly well. This is a beautiful album, certainly Tame Impala but with an identity all its own.

This record is highly considered, highly labored, and sonically perfect. Lyrically, I don't quite think it lives up to past records, but that's okay, because you can still feel that the ... read more

Stellar in every sense. I haven't had this many 'wow' moments with a single record in years. Every song packs it deep with beautiful lyricism, pitch-perfect vocals, and forward-thinking experimental production. This is an album to unpack over many listens, each one revealing new shades and new textures previously unseen. It's a testament to the power of music, to the power of art to inspire feeling, and to the exhilarating drama that is life.

With this record, Big Thief cement their status as the current biggest band in indie. Two Hands fills in the gaps of UFOF; the lower, earthbound portions. Fewer electronics, more acoustics, and more down to earth lyrics, this album pulls at the heartstrings in every direction. Shoulders delivers perhaps one of Big Thiefs most cutting lyrics: "the blood of the man killing our mother with his hands is in me" strikes deep in the age of Trump.

While not quite reaching the psychedelic ... read more

Short, sweet, and beautiful. This album is sparse while still packing a massive punch. Her voice is gorgeous and paints a picture of a young woman finding herself. You can feel the performances on the record coming straight from the heart, particularly on tracks like 'Cold Apartment,' and the closer 'Alive and Well.' Recommend this record for anyone looking for something soothing and emotional.
