While Path is one of the more intriguing entries into shoegaze of recent vintage, Kraus takes an unconventional approach to conventionality—he tries to make one person sound like a fully staffed rock band.
While it’s static drenched wares are impressive and its enveloping sound absorbs all it touches, there’s an elusiveness that makes ‘Path’ hard to penetrate but on the album’s more direct, punchier moments, Kraus’ drumming helps the listener connect more on a human level.
I saw this one on a hivemind bracket and WOOOW. Is weird hearing a shoegaze artist that actually tries something new instead of the same melodies and ambients! Sadly is a bit bloated but bum is fucking insaneee
Not my favorite I've heard from the genre. I think all it is, is just the vocals don't work for me with the production. To me it feels like they clash a lot but the underlying melodies are really good I think. I feel like with either slightly different production or different kinds of vocals this could be so good but how it is I think its just alright not something I particularly like.
Lackluster vocal performances, shorter songs and a mix where every instrument bleeds into each other leads to a pretty noisy in-a-not-good-way record. I think the ideas were pretty creative for shoegaze standards but they weren't executed well at all imo.
