THE METALCORE GAUNTLET #72 - MODERN METALCORE

Greyhaven brought a very fresh and innovative sound to the genre with their sophomore release.

The mix of old school Metalcore, Post-Hardcore, Mathcore and Southern Rock reminds me a lot of Every Time I Die, but Empty Black is definitely heavier and more brooding. Wow! This album definitely left an impression on me. While it was a tad short, it had solid musicianship and powerful vocals throughout the experience. Think Dillinger Escape Plan meets Nothing More and this pretty much sums up the experience. Would definitely recommend checking this one out!

This was recommended to me by one of my friends, and I have to say it's a good listen. The instrumentation is really tight and really heavy, a lot of great breakdowns on here. Some songs even veered into mathcore-esque territory, with more technical riffs and chaotic rhythms. SUMMER SPREE - ALBUM #22

Extremely disappointing album. This has so well made instrumentation, but the vocals just sucked. The cleans were just straight up terrible, and while some of the gutturals were better, they were still lackluster. This felt like shitty dad rock meets Metalcore, and I want to love it, but I can't force myself.
