Someone said this bands vocalist sounds like Robert Smith and that statement was so absurd that I had to give their debut album a listen. It’s not bad, however it feels very empty. There’s a monotony to everything from the instrumental to the singing that causes everything to combine into one 25 minute long indie rock blur. Kikuo Miku 7 is Kikuo at the peak of their coherence and confidence in production ability and it shows. Every song is full of instrumental depth and creative ideas that never overstay their welcome. My biggest gripes with earlier Kikuo releases was how quickly they all became mundane after the first few songs with only a few albums reawakening at the end, but it is simply not the case with this record.
