ROLLING STONE #414
great disco 80s album, with some obvious standouts. track lengths were a bit long, wish they were shorter..

least fav: will you cry (when you hear that song)

I don't know why this album wanted me to listen to it so bad, so today I was in a disco kinda mood so I decided to finally pick it up and give it a spin and man was a pleasantly surprised. It's definitely a slow burn album so if you don't like more drawn out and chill then skip this project. I do think most of the songs run just a bit long but are all still good and enjoyable if you are just laying around a pool or having the sun shine down on your face. I also think My Feet Keep Dancing ... read more

Even better than We Are Family, a very similar disco album from around the same time. These late 70's disco records are so much fun to listen to because they MAKE it so much fun. Good vibes only right here. Just happy as shit. With Risque CHIC gives us some disco funky bangers that are pretty much all instant bad day killers. The songs are catchy and super enjoyable and the singing is great. Here's another thing this album has in common with We Are Family: It was sampled in ... read more

As whole it can't quite live up to the genius of a track that Good Times is, but it's still filled to the brim with energetic funky grooves (basically every single bassline here is fucking nuts). Love the rich and smooth atmosphere, with how they can both play it slow or make a dancefloor classic.

The greatest highs in disco, wish these tracks weren’t so long, but I understand it’s better for the DJ set. It’s like they found an incredible idea and just kept going with it. This is actually closer to being a perfect album than my score indicates. Funk!

The opener is so lush, funky and fun! The rest doesn’t reach the same heights but it’s so groovy all the way through! Great vocals! Super fun and enjoyable album!

*Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Albums #414*

While it was pretty long, I loved the bass line of Good Times. Really a strong mood setter for the album opener, made me feel like I was just invited into a fun nightclub and this is the first song the DJ plays. THe energy it created however was quickly dimmed with A Warm Summer's Night, which was a nice enough song but was a bit too long for how repetative and simple it was.
I would say that almost every song was made up of the same minute of ... read more

Disco is just too fun- these songs are long and can get repetitive but that doesn't mean I just stop dancing!

Almost a perfect album for me. This thing really goes back to back with banger after banger after banger. Only song I don’t really vibe with is Can’t Stand to Love You. Just doesn’t resonate with me at all. But seriously Good times, My feet Keep dancing, my forbidden lover, will you cry all on the same album is a massive achievement. Straight fucking heat in those songs. A warm summer night and what about me r also very good and definitely don’t get skipped but I feel ... read more

Risqué by Chic is a solid Disco and Funk album, even if it didn’t completely blow me away. It was my first time listening to Chic, and while I enjoyed the warm grooves, nice production, and hypnotic rhythms, I couldn’t help but feel that a few tracks dragged on longer than they needed to. The whole thing is only 36 minutes, but it feels so much longer due to the repetitiveness of some of the songs. That being said, there’s still something charming and undeniably stylish ... read more

Another fabulous, disco infused masterpiece produced by the most distinctive team of the Good Times.

Um álbum ok, mas levando em conta a produção de alto nível no período, fica bem abaixo. A faixa lendária "Good Times" acaba carregando o trabalho praticamente sozinha.

Outside of some Great songs like Good Times and My Forbidden Lover, this is a pretty whatever album. The biggest Issue I have with it ,is that most songs just drag on for way to long without any interesting stuff going on. Not terrible, but not impressive

What an intro. Good Times is as iconic as Happy Birthday as far as songs go. Textbook celebration music that fits every occasion. Clocking in unexpectedly at over 8 minutes is a bit of an after party. Like finding out Happy Birthday has additional lyrics "From good friends and true, from old friends and new. May good luck go with you, and happiness too." Just when you think it's over Chic come in with essentially a for he's a jolly good fellow verse. The rest of the album is ... read more

i lurrrrve disco!! favorite tracks: good times, my feet keep dancing, will you cry (when you hear this song)

A fine follow-up in Chic's immeasurably talented three-album run. With the iconic "Good Times" leading the album, it is impossible to be bored by Chic. At least, while they were leading in the late 70s.

My feet keep dancing

Released in the late summer of 1979, Chic’s third studio album—*Risqué*—stands as a monumental, ultra-sophisticated paradigm shift in popular music—a masterclass in rhythmic architecture that elevated disco to the level of high art and forged the definitive blueprint for the future of hip-hop, new wave, and modern dance music. While the broader cultural landscape was fractured by the aggressive "Disco Sucks" backlash, Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards did ... read more
