The first sound of a TIE fighter flying by, sampled from the classic 1977 film Star Wars, immediately takes the listener of Ash's full-length debut 1977 back to an era of fast-paced punk rock, a despise of authorities, and a message of peace, love and rock n roll. 1977 combines hard-hitting punk tunes, akin to those from the debut mini-LP, with classic Britpop tunes, like Girl from Mars and Goldfinger.
