This is definitely an album more inspired by German progressive electronic than traditional ambient, and in this way it really shows how much more refined electronic music has become since the 70s. What Klaus Schulze could have made with this technology is beyond me. No matter what, it would have been a bit of a challenge for him to beat this album though.
