What this CD lacks in originality, it usually makes up for in terms of passion, energy, and craftsmanship.
Clearly DRAGONFORCE are leagues above some of the squealing dross that lurks in the lower reaches of the melodic power metal scene.
Fury of the Storm, one of the most epic songs, and Soldiers of the Wasteland, the song with the best guitar solo period. Nothing compares. Plus Dragonforce songs are all energized with epic fantasy background. The reason I bring that up is because the intro of My Spirit Will Go On. Fun and straightforward. Contrarily to what is believed, the songs aren't as complex as they are thought to be, apart from the solos (obviously). The guitars during the verses and hooks mostly alternate between some fast picking or power chords, leaving space for soaring vocal melodies. The drumming is also very direct to the point. It's fast but that's about it. Nonetheless, a fun record.
