Take U2, cross them with Big Country and inject a whole lot of United States 19th Century western attitude and that's this record. Possibly one of my favorites of the entire decade. Big, overblown and catchy as hell.
The sound of this album, which is the first and so far only i heard by The Alarm, sounds a lot like a more British version of Big Country. Like, those folk-ish melodies are there, fused in with their more rock foundation in terms of sound and production, except The Alarm also uses horns here.
