The decision made by multi-instrumentalist Jocie Adams to cut ties with her band Low Anthem in 2013 has conclusively proved to be a progressive step. This album shows potential, emotion and quite a desperate sense of cohesion throughout its tracks. Arc Iris resembles a plethora of different folk-related singer-songwriter artists from the past, but also plays at her own pace on her debut. It just feels really simple in melody and structure, but striking to say the least. If only the vocals were more clear and upfront, one might say, it could be huge.
