I don't think this album is the atrocious disaster that it's often made out to be, but it's definitely the sound of an unfocused band on the brink of implosion. Despite some mediocre cuts, Orchid Club, Island of Lost Souls, For Your Eyes Only, War Child and The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game are all great.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM. IT IS SO GOOD!!! the critics and whoever else truly act like this is the worst album ever created and it literally just isn't, it's a fun album with jungley tropical themes and it's consistently like james bond x the flintstones (other than a few songs like dragonfly which are futuristic as hell) and i think it's such an odd mashup of stuff that somehow works together so well, i guess i see why people dislike it but i really really love it, amazing ... read more

The Hunter shows Blondie at a very tense moment in their history: in the brink of implosion and internal turmoil, releasing an album more for contractual reasons than artistic ones. Debbie Harry sounds bored here, in a lot of the tracks, she's just talking over some barebones 80's New Wave, tinged with synths and throbbing bass lines. It continues the more disco-y direction the band had taken with Autoamerican, complete with the two (2!) Reggae songs that completely kill any momentum ... read more
