Watson's guitar work is some of the greatest I've ever heard. The speed, energy, and control of his playing is stunning. However, I can't help but feel like a lot of these tracks recycle melodic ideas, and they all just kind of blend together with little to no variation.

It’s strange how good this record sounds given it’s from the 60’s, but that’s not the only great thing about Doc Watson’s work here. His singing is pretty good and his melodies are sweet and catchy, but it’s the impressive guitar playing that really makes this album.
