The Runner

The second single released from Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part 2 doesn't go as hard as I expected. But it doesn't need to. This is one of the grooviest songs Foals have made to date and is easily my favourite track thus far from what they've released on this double-LP. The Runner is great track and one that makes itself somewhat unique if Foals discography by combining electronic elements with heavier guitars, but rarely at the same time. The Runner instead has very rocky verses with a strong pulse and beat, but then expanding out into open reverb tinged synths for the chorus. The only time these elements mix are the 2, short bridges where we get a guitar solo over the same synths.
