Moments of this record like the opener show a really early grunge sound that are somewhat captivating, but overall this record feels really underbaked and flat
Backed by a major label and produced by the hot duo of Terry Date and Chris Cornell, the Trees depart with their fifth album for the majestic, rock alcazar to display their carefully packed goodies.
Beyond some of the standout songs like Lay Your Head Down and Before We Arise, it sounds very much the same throughout. It's not bad, it is just unvaried and could use some extra attention paid to it to make the track list more distinctive.
