Kerrang!
Rarely have sadness and songwriting been meshed so effectively into an emotionally testing whole.

AllMusic
Cold's songwriting isn't always great and they're too concerned with adolscent angst and horror ("Everyone Dies," "Insane," "Serial Killer," etc.), but the band's sound is fully formed, resutling in a strong debut.

RE-RE-REVIEW - November, 2024: I managed to get a CD of this and every time I listen to it gets better!

The rawness, melancholy, and anger on this record are really appealing. This record has about everything thrown into it: Nu-metal, alt-metal, fuzzy and dense grunge, alternative rock, shoegaze, even stoner rock. Engine No. 5 fell off.

They kind of sound like if Bush was a moody metal band.

To be honest, I thought this was a pretty solid album.

It's got plenty of great sounding drop-tuned power chord riffs and guitar effects. (Phaser and Wah pedal sales must've gone up like 200% when Nu-Metal started to catch on...) An Interesting listen.

Cold's debut is hard to describe exactly describe. My best description is it sounds like a metal version of swervedriver.

It's cool to think that a dime-a-dozen radio rock from the 2000's laid the ground for bands like Fleshwater, Narrowhead, and to a lesser extent, Thornhill.

It's equally frustrating to consider that they didn't capitalize on it.
